Two finalists according to KSR: Juan Byars- Current Madison Southern Girls Basketball Coach. Played at Paris in the 90’s. His two girls played at GRC, phenomenal players. Brian Snodgrass-Not familiar with this person. Anyone know who this is?

For sure it could….but I’m 99% sure one of the finalists is a coach who is local to the area/community, and is currently a HC at another school. So are they just parading the other applicant around?

According to someone on the "hiring" committee, they had 10 members on an interview committee NOT including some student-athletes that were apparently on it, interviews were timed, an on-court instruction/practice with current players, and now this? Wild.

From what I understand maybe a roster of 25-30. A few athletes, but will lack a lot of size upfront and skill from years past. Most of their roster went across town. I’m not sure if this is what Damron signed up for, but kind of looks bleak this summer.

A recent livestream by a self-proclaimed “agent” of Rice, who is also a prominent Paris fan, suggested that the school administration did not back Rice. According to the livestream, Rice requested his coaching stipend upfront, and administration expressed concerns about whether he would fulfill his obligations. The livestream also mentioned that Rice reportedly brought in 37 kids, and at an estimated $4,000 per student, this could amount to over $150,000 in funding for a school the size of Paris. However, it was claimed that some within the Paris community never fully supported his presence from the start. There were suggestions that those involved did not want this situation to appear as a conflict between basketball and football, particularly since both are connected to Paris. However, the livestream alleged that the basketball team and Rice’s son may have played a role in the separation as well. I was also told (though I have not independently verified)that a major donor might be a former Paris alum with ties to the Bourbon school board. There is also speculation about the Paris superintendent potentially leaving for his home county, which could add another layer of interest to the broader story within the county. Regardless, Tyquan Rice will be the next football coach at Bourbon County.

Sayre did what they wanted with Paris. Luke Pennington was unreal, Sayre WR’s were wide open all night. Paris did stop the inside run, but it didn’t really matter. Paris had at least 7 turnovers, and maybe a 150yds offense.
