I am hearing a lot from several sources and I hope we are able to get to the truth.

I am told that a big money donor pushed Bourbon to fire Coach Baierlein and to hire Coach Rice.  

I am also told that several Paris kids will be transferring to Bourbon County and Paris may have trouble fielding a team.

Anyone?

I don't know about any of that, but what I'm struggling with is how you can fire a head coach, then hire another head coach in the same day....in a public school system.  I thought there were set standards for how long jobs had to be posted, which if this is true, wasn't followed at all in this case.  It also used to be extenuating circumstances when a kid could transfer.  Now, it seems like it's few and far between when the transfer isn't approved. I'm not really sure why we have transfer regulations anymore b/c it seems they're so easy to circumvent now.

All accurate.

Although not required, Bourbon County has not posted a head football coaching job on its website.  Also was told that Coach Rice resigned from Paris and has not officially been hired by Bourbon County yet.

The short answer is you can't. 

My understanding is that teaching positions in public schools must be posted for a certain amount of time, while Coaching jobs do not.  

I heard that Tyquan Rice will be going to Bourbon County and that several players are following him.  Found this interesting too: 

 

If Paris promotes OC Anthony Roberts to head coach, they will keep all the Lexington kids. If they bring in another guy, Roberts likely may head to BoCo with those players.

I know very little about either program but this is pretty fascinating to read.

I want to start by saying that Coach Rice is an adult and is free to pursue any job he wants.

However, he didn't take a better job by going to Bourbon. As for the folks of Paris, I am sure they have some justified crosswords for Coach Rice. It's one thing to tell a bunch of kids you love them, believe in them, and want the best for you, BUT I am taking at your cross-town rival because the coaching stipend is $100 more. It's not like he's leaving Dayton for Beechwood. 

Yeah, Coach Rice did win some games, but not until he brought a bunch of kids from Lexington to improve the overall talent pool. I know Bourbon Co. is about four blocks closer to the city of Lexington maybe that's why he took the job. 

 

A recent livestream by a self-proclaimed “agent” of Rice, who is also a prominent Paris fan, suggested that the school administration did not back Rice. According to the livestream, Rice requested his coaching stipend upfront, and administration expressed concerns about whether he would fulfill his obligations.

The livestream also mentioned that Rice reportedly brought in 37 kids, and at an estimated $4,000 per student, this could amount to over $150,000 in funding for a school the size of Paris. However, it was claimed that some within the Paris community never fully supported his presence from the start.  

There were suggestions that those involved did not want this situation to appear as a conflict between basketball and football, particularly since both are connected to Paris. However, the livestream alleged that the basketball team and Rice’s son may have played a role in the separation as well.

I was also told (though I have not independently verified)that a major donor might be a former Paris alum with ties to the Bourbon school board. There is also speculation about the Paris superintendent potentially leaving for his home county, which could add another layer of interest to the broader story within the county. 

Regardless, Tyquan Rice will be the next football coach at Bourbon County. 

 

 

 

Well this thread sure beats reading work reports....

 

 

Rice brought 37 kids for $4k. It costs more than $4K to educate kids in school. Rice brought kids in to help Rice not raise test scores at Paris. Every coach across the state tries to get kids for wins, so this idea that he did Paris a favor is silly. Any fan isn't a fan if they don't do things to help try to keep their coach. 

I enjoy listening to fans blame school districts for not supporting their coaches. Especially those that don't donate time or money.
