Covington Catholic 10 Highlands 1

Not sure who is the ace of the staff. They are pretty deep and I think it will shake out in a few weeks. Barth, DeSylva, Wiggins and Schneider all have good enough stuff to be an ace. -
Kentucky at Tennessee Predictions/Updates

I think UK can win this game but they need the offensive explosiveness they have had recently. I think a game in he 70's or below is what Tennessee wants. -
Newport 45 Ryle 43 (9th Region)

Ryle pulled up a lot on shots for short to mid range jumpers instead of going into the teeth of Newport's defense. Not a bad strategy they just needed to shoot a little better. Played a very solid game. -
Newport 45 Ryle 43 (9th Region)

Newport was much more aggressive going to the basket, which has more to do with getting fouls than the style of defense you play. Many times zones, especially by teams that do not play them regularly leads to reaching on defense as players try to drive in seams. While I was not overly impressed with the officials I do not think they favored one way or the other. Some good calls and some bad calls both ways. -

Good solid season for the Tigers this year. Some nice wins and some really close "almost" nice wins. I like the Mertens kid coming back for next season. His dad was a really nice point guard back in the day for the Tigers. Zack a much better scorer.- 1 reply

Kudos to Campbell for keeping the score where it was. Didn't see the game but obviously they did something.

I can see UK bouncing back and winning this game. -

Well this game has always intrigued me as the two small Catholic schools of Campbell County do battle in the last regular season game. Since the mid 90's this has been definitely a rivalry, normally 2 really good teams playing. I am shocked when I looked at records. What has happened? Are both team struggling with talent level? Not enough players in Campbell County to allow both schools to be strong? NCC enters the game at 7-21. In looking at their schedule though they have played some pretty top flight teams. Brossart currently stands at 3-23 and on a 20 game losing streak that includes a recent double digit loss to Bellevue. They have Lloyd tonight so I assume they may be 3-24 by game time. Anyone?

NCC has given Newport 2 of its better games in Northern Ky. this season especially considering NCC is having a down season as far as record is concerned. They play hard and they are well coached but just lacking much size, depth and talent is down some from the normal NCC teams. -
Gonzaga at Kentucky Predictions/Updates
cincyswords replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
Yes they are definitely not at the level they have been the last few years. UK is 23 NET and Gonzaga 28. -
This is also the same Vandy team that had Bama beat in Nashville, but could not hold on to the lead. Vandy is bad....very bad. UK looked like a high flying AAU team that does whatever they want and dunks constantly. But I think you have to look at the positives and think that UK needs to use this as a way to build confidence in the individual players.

DePaul one of the last great "independents" in college basketball. I loved those teams. What people don't realize is Joey Meyer had some success as well, not as much as his dad, but he had a 231-158 record with 7 NCAA tournament appearances and 2 Sweet 16's.

Wagner will have an NBA career along the same path as Quickley. Wagner is a legit threat to carry a college team to the FInal 4. As a "non" UK fan one of the things that strikes me is this - If this team becomes 100% healthy who loses playing time? Does that have a negative effect on that player? Also, what happened to Big Z? Is he truly that bad he cannot help at all?

Tennessee at Kentucky Predictions/Updates
cincyswords replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
I have seen Tennessee a couple of times this year and they have always looked bad. Not sold on them at all. -
Bradshaw went from an All American candidate to a guy who will be lucky to get minutes. What is going on with him? Is he not playing hard? Is he physically weak?

Newport would immediately become the next program they create issues in if in fact it would be possible to play this season, which I do not see that as even possible. That being said, Cayden will be needing a high school to play for next season.

I think you are spot on in your assessment of this.
