In the current environment, it will take longer to build a program than in the past, unless there is an influx of transfers. If the job is open, finding an excellent young coach that wants to build a program and be there 20 plus years is what I would look for. Continuity is the best shot a school has to close the large gap between the have nots and the haves.  Look for a young coach with a young family.  

I am a big Brian Weinrich fan. Excellent football coach and a fine man. He was a great resource for me when I was at Mason County. Certainly wish him the best if he has decided to move on.

The current Soph class won the 8th grade championship (beating Highlands). There is lots of talent in the building.

Middle school championships ultimately don’t mean that much. Winning the NKMSAA championship is nice. But in the grand scheme of things it’s not that strong of a league. Campbell has won a bunch of those titles over the years. And kids come and go, grow/stop growing, that a lot changes between 8th grade and varsity football.

Seems like moral of the story is that Weinrich was a great coordinator but is not a great head coach. Not all teachers are meant to be administrators and not all coaches are meant to be head coaches.

In Brian's defense everyone in NKY new Highlands would be down for a while talent wise. His team did win a state championship. He took over a struggling Newport program and Campbell has a history of having some good teams but never a great program year in and out. As I always say, right time, right place, right people. Good luck to Coach Weinrich on what ever his path may be. Our son was his teammate on the '89 state championship so I would believe he is more than able to retire from Kentucky public education.

The QB from that team and at least one other player that was very skilled are playing some place else. 

Perfect candidate to be DC for the Pioneers! 

The problem at Campbell County is talent retention, kids from 9-10 years old already know they will not go to the high school. Winning is the only thing to fix that.
