This is incorrect. You are thinking of freshman this year. The 28 class is mostly intact.

They lost Austin Davie to focusing on basketball who would be the best football player in NKY in the class of 2028. They lost Bryce Armstrong who was the QB on that team. 2 huge ones right there.

Davie was not the best player on that team when he played.

Armstrong was not the QB also.    It was Guy.

I won't debate. But this is the issue with Campbell right here. In many aspects.

You can choose not to debate but you are inaccurate. Armstrong is class of 2029 and was not the 8th grade QB 2 years ago. Armstrong is elite though!

So Armstrong as a 7th grader never threw passes to Davie as an 8th grader?

So much for not debating?

I know I’m so naive to how hard it is to be a head coach at any program. I have that dream in the back of my head that you walk in and just can convince everyone from the superintendent to the great grandma of the 3rd string d-lineman to buy in. I feel like all it takes is the right words and kids will give themselves fully to the greater cause of winning football games even if they don’t play a snap all year. As I said I’m naive.

Campbell Co has had an issue for a very long time retaining talent or obtaining talent for football. Wrestling and Basketball have been top of the ladder for a long time. CC football had to battle with Brossart, NCC and now Highlands for football players. It’s not an enviable position at all, but if you can get the right person in place that can retain/obtain a key player or two then perhaps that slow build to competitive every year can be achieved.

Middle school championships ultimately don’t mean that much. Winning the NKMSAA championship is nice. But in the grand scheme of things it’s not that strong of a league. Campbell has won a bunch of those titles over the years. And kids come and go, grow/stop growing, that a lot changes between 8th grade and varsity football.

That and then you got to think how many of those kids will end up at a school like Highlands. I know there is a freshman at Highlands right now balling out that was Campbell County for 8th grade. It just comes down to keeping those kids around + development.

Gotta think too how many of the kids they are losing are going to school where they think they have a better shot of getting exposure from colleges.

Any truth that Bert Bathiany applied?

No and I don't Chuck Smith will either. IYKYK

Any news here?

This has been a very quiet coaching search. I have not heard any updates at all on this open position.
