  1. The only automatic 1st down in high school football are the roughing penalties! Roughing the snapper, holder, kicker, quarterback. All other fouls you must get the line to gain in order to be a first down!

  4. They dressed 17 kids this past Friday night when they beat Jackson Co 58-0
  5. An Eminence player was injured right before halftime of their game versus Owen County. The young man was air lifted by helicopter to the hospital. Early reports were that the young man had a possible ruptured spleen.
  6. Addi Johnson throws a 1 hit shutout as SK wins a key district seeding game 14-0 over Williamstown. Alexis Baker opened up the game with a single and stole 2nd base. Moved to third on a fielder's choice by Larkin Mitchell. Baker then scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Emilie Young. Bottom of the 2nd Adreena Barton singled and stole 2nd then advanced to 3rd on an Addi Johnson single. Barton scored on a Jada Johnson RBI single. Courtesy runner Taylor Jones scored on an RBI single by Baker. Mitchell added a hit, then J Johnson scored on a sac fly by Young, Baker was thrown out at the plate attempting to score on the same play. SK led 4-0 at this point. Top of the 3rd Landrey Dance & Hannah Schwier had back to back triples. Barton then followed that up with an RBI single. A Johnson & J Johnson hit consecutive singles. Followed by Baker's 3rd hit driving in 2 runs, followed by a 2 run single by Mitchell. Young then recorded an RBI double and Schwier finished up the scoring with an RBI Double. SK now had a commanding 12-0 lead! The bottom of the 4th Courtney Beach doubled, then scored on a RBI triple from Addi Johnson. Pinch hitter Taylor Jones then hit into a 6-3 putout scoring Johnson. In the bottom of the 5th, Addison Johnson throwing a no hitter, struck out the first batter of the inning. Addi 2 outs away from a no-no, gave up her lone hit on a line drive to CF. She got the next 2 batters out to end the game. A 100% team effort as everyone played as Coach Young emptied his bench over the last 2 innings.   7. SK survives a sluggish start after 10 days off for spring break to beat a very good Campbell County team 8 to 5. Neither team scored until the 3rd inning. CC took the early lead in the top if the 3rd as Sam Perry started off the inning with a single followed by a Bella Bastin fielder's choice. Back to back singles by Hope Hamilton & Paige Stewart scored Bastin, a walk to Haddie Kramer loaded the bases and then Landrey Dance struck out Emily Nadeaus to end the threat. In the bottom of the 3rd CC's Stewart threw back to back strike outs to start the inning. With 2 outs Alexis Baker singled & then stole 2nd base. Larkin Mitchell hit an RBI double to score Baker. Emilie Young drew a walk followed by a Landrey Dance 3 run Home Run giving SK a 4 to 1 lead. After a scoreless 4th inning CC busted out 5 hits in the 5th inning. Bastin had a leadoff double, followed by a ground out to 2nd, moving Bastin to 3rd. Stewart, Kramer, Nadeaus, collected 3 straight hits. After a fielding error and another single by Jayci Kremer CC took a 5 to 4 lead. Bottom of the 5th Baker, Mitchell, & Young had consecutive hits, as Young collected 2 RBI's. Adreena Barton drew a walk and stole 2nd. With 2 on and 2 outs, pinch hitter Courtney Beach had an RBI single. SK now led 7 to 5. In the 6th inning Mitchell collected her 3rd hit of the game, added her 2nd stolen base of the game as well. Then Young had a single scoring Mitchell to end the scoring. Top of the 7th CC's Josie Freebeck doubled to start off the inning. The next 2 batters we put down with a K and a 6-3 put out. Alex Leicht singled. With 2 outs and runners on 1st and 3rd, Dance struck out Perry to end the game. Dance pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 runs (3 earned) along with 12 hits. 3 K's and 1 BB. Very good team effort as all the girls played multiple positions and played excellent defense. Game finished 5 to 5, we did not play extra innings. Next Up: Today at Williamstown. District Seeding game and a must in for SK if we want a shot at the #1 seed in the district tournament.

WV leadoff hitter Addison Svec led off the game with a sharp single to right. after a walk to Kenzie Farmer and a fielder's choice by Audrey Pollard. WV had 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Landrey Dance then struck out Lacey Alford & got Dani Oldfield to ground out to end the early threat. In the bottom of the first SK came out of the gate hitting. Alexis Baker led off the bottom of 1 with a double, followed by an RBI single from Larkin Mitchell. After an Emilie Young walk, Landrey Beth Dance had an RBI single. Then senior Hannah Schwier hit her 3rd Home Run of the season while collecting 3 RBI's. Adreena Barton then drew a walk, followed by back to back singles from Courtney Beach & Kaylee Korros. Baker then had her second double of the first inning collecting an RBI. After one complete SK led WV 8-0. WV was held hitless & scoreless in the 2nd, bottom of 2 SK was still hitting on all cylinders. After a walk to Dance, Schwier hit her 4th Home Run of the season and 2nd of the game, collecting 2 more RBI's. Beach & Korros reached base on singles then Bakerhad an RBI single, stole a base, then scored on a Mitchell RBI single. Score after 2 complete was SK 13 WV 0. Dance again held WV hitless and scoreless in the 3rd. Bottom of 3, Hannah Schwier led off with a double, pinch hitter Gwen Kirk hit a laser single to right, followed by an Addi Johnson walk, 7th grader Jayden Jones singled scoring Kirk to invoke the mercy rule for a final score of 15-0. SK moves to 8-4 on the season and gets a huge win for district seeding!   9. SK survives a slow start to overwhelm Notre Dame Academy 9 to 5. In the top of the 1st, NDA leadoff hitter Addy Mack drew a walk, Ava McKinley reached base on a throwing error, then another walk to Tori Danneman loaded the bases. Cleanup hitter Cam Steinbrunner hit a ball out in front of home plate, an mental mistake by SK allowed all runners to be safe and NDA took an early 1-0 lead. Morgan Huston grounded out to Larkin Mitchell at 2nd base and that all another run to score. Landrey Beth Dance then struck out the next 2 batters to end the top half of the inning. SK would put up a threat in the bottom of the first after a Mitchell single, then walks to Emilie Young & Hannah Schwier loaded the bases. Adreena Barton grounded out to 3rd base to end the inning. Dance went the next 5 innings without allowing a hit. SK got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd after Mitchell singled followed by an RBI double from Young. In the bottom of the 4th SK bats finally came alive. Courtney Beach & Kaylee Korros started off the inning with back to back singles, Alexis baker then followed with a 2 run double. Mitchell then hit a sac fly to score Baker after she had stolen 3rd base to give SK a 4-2 lead heading to the 5th. NDA added a run in the top of the 5th after a couple of defensive errors. Bottom of the 5th, Dance led off the inning with a single, courtesy runner Jayden Jones then stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a Schwier ground out. Barton appeared to have hit a sac fly to score Jones, but after appeal, Jones was called out for leaving 3rd base early taking a run off the board. Dance shut NDA down in the top of the 6th. Bottom half of the inning SK exploded for 5 runs. Beach started the inning off with a hit, followed by a Jada Johnson line drive triple to right field scoring Beach. Baker hit an RBI triple then took home on a passed ball. Mitchell then singled followed by a 2 run home run by Young. In the top of the 7th NDA put up a couple of runs. Ava Aueberger led off with a single followed by an impressive Mack home run that cleared school bus row! Final 9-5 SK!!! Dance pitched 7 solid innings of 3 hit ball. Walks and errors hurt some. 7 innings pitched, 5 runs (3 earned) 9 K's and 4 walks. No stats to report but another complete team effort. Coach Jessica Dougherty-Swope continually moved players around utilizing all players in multiple positions to come away with a 10-4 win JV2/Freshman Team played a double header at Bishop Brossart this past Monday winning game #1 13-0, and won game #2 4-2 (game was shortened due to darkness as Brossart doesn't have lights).

Game #1 10:00am Simon Kenton vs Cooper (9th Region Favorite) Both team's pitcher's & defense came to play early as both teams were held scoreless after 2 complete innings. SK struck first in the top of the 3rd as Alexis Baker hit a 2 out solo Home Run to give the Lady Pioneers a 1-0 lead. The Lady Jaquar's scored in the bottom of the 3rd after a fielding error allowed a routine fly ball to turn in 3 bases for K Furnish. Furnish then scored on a fielder's choice by A Scott to tie the score 1 to 1. SK would regain the lead in the top of the 6th on a solo home run by Hannah Schwier, then Adreena Barton walked, moved to 2nd as pinch hitter Madeline Johnson was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice by Kaylee Korros. Then pinch runner, Taylor Jones, scored on a wild pitch to give SK a 3-1 lead. Heading to the bottom of the 7th, SK still lead 3-1. Landrey Beth Dance retired the first two batters of the inning, SK 1 out away from a victory. H Hollis drew a walk, a single by A Chevy, another walk to furnish loaded the bases. A Scott with a single to cut the lead to 3-2, then the game winning hit by K Blau drove in 2 runs to give Cooper a come from behind 4-3 win. Dance threw all 7 innings. Pitches 113, Runs 4 (3 earned) 6 hits, 4 K's & 2 BB's. SK 0-0-1-0-0-2-0 3 7 2 CHS 0-0-1-0-0-0-3 4 6 0 Game #2: Pendleton Co defeated Cooper 6-5 in 10 Innings Game #3 Simon Kenton vs Pendleton County Pendleton Co went down in order 1-2-3 in the 1st. SK came in and the bats went to work! Alexis Baker walked, Larkin Mitchell singled moved to 2nd on a throwing error. Emilie Young walked to load the bases. followed by an RBI single from Landrey Dance, then Hannah Schwier with a 2 run double, Addi Johnson single & then Jada Johnson & Baker both hit back to back 2 run doubles to close out an 8 run 1st for the Lady Pioneers. Pendleton in the top of 2 scored 6 runs, highlighted by a couple of doubles by Avery Hines & Logan Cooper in addition to a 2 run home run by Maddy Musk. SK failed to score in the 2nd. PC put up 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd to tie the score at 8. SK in the 3rd scored a couple of runs with a double by J Johnson, and singles by Baker & Mitchell. Top of 4 PC plated 3 more runs to take an 11-10 lead. Reagan Carlise hit a 3 run bomb for PC. SK answered in the bottom of 4 as Baker hit a 3 run bomb of her own to put SK back out in front 13-11. PC failed to score in the 5th. SK scored 1 run in the 5th to take a 14-11 lead as J Johnson hit another double and scored on an RBI single from Baker. top of 6 PC cut the lead to 14-13 as Kaylee Bruner doubled followed by a Hannah Spaulding 2 run home run. SK exploded for 6 more runs in the bottom of 6 to take a commanding 20-13 lead. The big blow of the inning was another 3 run home run by Baker. Addi Johnson was the starting pitcher. Addi pitched 3+ innings allowing 9 runs (8 earned) on 10 hits. 7th grader Lauren McIntosh came on in relief and picked up her first Varsity career victory. Lauren threw 4 innings, gave up 4 runs (all earned) on 7 hits.   12. SK too much for Kenton County rival Scott to handle as the Lady Pioneers mercy rule the Eagles in 4 innings 16 to 0. SK moves to 5-3 on the young season. Top of the 1st Alexis Baker grounded out to 2nd for the first out. Larkin Mitchell followed with a walk. Emilie Young grounded into a fielder's choice forcing Mitchell out at 2nd. Courtesy Runner Taylor Jones stole 2nd base, Landrey Dance followed with a walk and then Hannah Schwier grounded out to end the threat. In the bottom of the first Scott's leadoff hitter grounded out to Mitchell, then Dance struck out the next 2 batters. The top of the 2nd the bats came alive. Adreena Barton led off the inning with a single to CF, Courtney Beach reached as she was hit by the pitch. Kaylee Korros drew a walk to load the bases. Jada Johnson then collected an RBI on a single to LF. Baker followed with a 2 run double off the right field fence, Mitchell then had a 2 run single and reached 2nd base on a throwing error. Young finished off the scoring with an RBI double as the Pioneers plated 6 runs in the inning. After Dance sat down 3 consecutive batters in the bottom of 2, the Pioneers kept up the scoring in the 3rd. With 2 outs and no one on base, Baker hit her 2nd double of the game followed by a Mitchell single, a Young walk, a 2 run single from Dance, & an RBI Double by Schwier to close out the top of 3 with 4 more runs and a 10-0 lead! Scott threatened to score in the bottom of the 3rd after a walk then a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out. The next two batters each grounded out 1 to 3 to end that threat. In the top of the 4th the Pioneers were not finished scoring. Jada Johnson started off the inning collecting her 2nd hit of the game followed by 3 consecutive singles from Baker, Mitchell, & Young. Then Dance and Schwier hit back to back doubles and Gwen Kirk closed out the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice. SK now led 16 to 0 heading tot the bottom of the 4th. Scott started off the 4th with a lead off single, then Dance sat down the next 3 batters to end the game! Dance pitched 4 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits with 1 walk.   13. SK gets no hit by Ballard's Brooke Gray as the Pioneer's drop a game at home 11 to 0. Top of the 1st Ballard's Emory Donaldson, a UK commit, lined a hard single to left center followed by Mikayla Milby, another high D1 uncommitted recruit, deep blast into school bus row for a 2 run home run. Bottom of one Alexis Baker drew a walk and stole 2nd base. Gray proceeded to strike out the next 8 Pioneers in a row until Baker reached 1st base on a throwing error, followed by a Larkin Mitchell flyout. Gray then struck out 5 of the next 6 batters to end the game. Landrey Dance went 4 and two thirds gave up 11 runs (4 earned) 6 hits and 3 K's.   14. SK improves to 4-1 with an exciting 9 to 7 extra inning win versus a top 25 team in the state, Pendleton County! SK got on the board early, top of 1 Alexis Baker drew a walk, followed by a Larkin Mitchell single and another walk to Emilie Young and the bases were loaded with no one out. After a K, Hannah Schwier had an RBI fielder's choice to put SK up 1-0. PC tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd after Maddie Musk & Hannah Spalding had back to back singles, Sydney Dalton had an RBI fielder's choice. SK went back on top in the 3rd when Mitchell drew a walk, stole 2nd base, advanced to 3rd on a Landry Dance single, then scored on another RBI fielder's choice by Schwier. In the 4th SK added on to the lead after Jada Johnson singled, Baker hit into a fielder's choice, Mitchell walked, Young had an RBI single scoring Baker, then Mitchell advanced home on a passed ball giving the Pioneers a 4 to 1 lead. PC scored after Musk walked, SK then had an error advancing Musk to 3rd base, she then scored on a fielder's choice cutting the lead to 4 to 2. In the 6th SK added a run after a Mitchell single, then a Young double, Dance hand an RBI single scoring Mitchell increasing SK's lead to 5 to 2. In the bottom of the 7th PC would not go away, after a lead off line out to Adreena Barton at 1st base, Logan Cooper and Madison Verst both singled bringing Reagan Carlisle to the plate. Carlisle is a D1 commit to NKU and she proceeded to hit a missile that cleared the right field fence for a 3 run home run to tie the game at 5-5. After a ground out to short, Musk hit a double to right field putting the winning run on 2nd base. The next batter Spaulding hit a sharp ground ball into the 4 hole. Larkin Mitchell made a diving catch and threw Spaulding out at 1st base on a bang bang play to end the 7th. In the 8th SK started off with a runner put on 2nd base per rule, Kaylee Korros. Korros advanced to 3rd on a sac bunt by Jada Johnson. After a Baker pop out SK had two outs, one on and no runs in. Mitchell walked, Emilie Young hit a fly ball into CF that appeared would end the inning. The CF misplayed the ball committing an error and both Korros and Mitchell scored. Dance advanced to 1st base on a strike 3 dropped ball, then courtesy runners Taylor Jones and Madeline Johnson both scored on a Schwier double. In the bottom of the 8th PC scored 2 runs and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with Carlisle up to bat, with a full count and 2 out, Dance struck out Carlise to end the game! Larkin Mitchell 3 for 3, 2 BB, 4 Runs, 2 SB Emilie Young 3 for 4 & 3 RBIs Dance 2 for 5, RBI Schwier 2B, 4 RBIs Jayden Jones got her first career varsity hit! Everyone was hitting and Madeline Johnson hit her first ever over the fence home run in the game. JV2 plays tomorrow at home versus Cooper in a double header. It will be JV2 first game of the year.   15. SK drops our first game of the season at Frederick Douglass last night 5 to 2. Not a lot of highlights from this one. SK fell behind 2 to 0 after the first inning. Landrey Dance struck out the first 2 batters, then Aaliyah Long drew a base on balls. Jules Johnson the doubled in the right center field gap scoring Long. Johnson then scored on a fielding error by SK before Dance struck out the 3rd batter of the inning. In the top of the 4th, Larkin Mitchell lead off the inning with a single, followed by a walk to Emilie Young. Mitchell was thrown out on a steal attempt to 3rd, Young advanced to 2nd. Hannah Schwier then had and RBI double followed by an Adreena Barton RBI single. The 5th inning SK had a scoring threat with 2 outs Alexis Baker & Mitchell both drew walks, the a double steal had them both in scoring possession. Young lined out hard to 3rd to end the threat. Frederick Douglass put the game away with 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the 5th. Both SK pitchers, Dance & Addi Johnson, threw well. We just need to tighten up our defense and we will win plenty of close games as the offense isnt always gonna be on top of good opponent pitching.   16. SK now sits at 3-0 on the young season after a wild 16 to 15 win over North Laurel. SK lead 13 to 1 going Into the 5th inning on the verge of a mercy rule. Only to have North Laurel come storming back and take a lead in the top of the 7th 15 to 14. In the bottom of the 7th after Landrey Dance grounded out Hannah Schwier got her 4th hit of the game, followed by a base hit from Adreena Barton and then a walk by Kaylee Korros. Next batter, Courtney Beach grounded into a fielder's choice as Schwier was thrown out at the plate stopping the potential run to tie the game. That set it up for Alexis Baker to hit a game winning, walk off 2 run double over the Left fielders head to win the game. We struggled defensively the last 3 innings as we committed 9 errors. Schwier went 4 for 4 wwith her first career home run! Emilie Young was 3 for 5 with a home run. Alexis Baker was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles. Larkin Mitchell, Landrey Dance, Adreena Barton, & Kaylee Korros all had 2 hits each. Landrey went 5 & a third innings giving up 3 earned runs on 4 hits, 4 strike outs. Addi Johnson picked up her 2nd win of the season and pitched 2 & two-thirds of an inning giving up 2 earned runs on 9 hits.
