Bret Baierlein was let go by the Colonels. 

Tough job. Wins/losses usually influence most of these decisions, but I'd be very surprised if you could find a better man than Bret Baierlein. I know he was trying to build his program the correct way. Hopefully Coach lands on his feet somewhere! 

Feels a little late in the calendar for this. Makes me think they have someone else in mind.

Hate this for Bret, a great friend for a long time. I have no doubt he'll land on his feet somewhere if he wants to keep coaching. Wherever he ends up will also be getting an outstanding teacher as well.

I have zero respect for any administrations that wait so late in the hiring cycle (in any sport) to fire a coach.  Fine, if you don't want them you should know soon after the season.  Not, almost 3 months after their season ended.  Let the coach go, and have an opportunity to explore other opportunities earlier in the process.

So a coach gets let go and a new coach gets hired all in one day?? Am I missing something?
