If you think it is a shame why mention it? Aren't you adding to the detractors by saying something about it on here? I'd like to know of any state individual record that a coach did not attempt to help the player out on.

Hard not to like Lewis County. They may not have the big names that some of the other area teams do, but when they get off the bus they come to hit, block & tackle. They play hard every snap and because of this good things continue to happen for them IMO. I think they require a team's best shot because they play with so much effort.

Sounds like it was a good game until late. If a rematch is played, I would strongly think about attending. As for the video, it is unfortunate. Being around kids every day, I'm not offended by it but disappointed that it happened. Kids are capable of doing questionable things at any time. You hate to see it when someone puts something like that online for all to see.

Having seen both teams up close I expect this to be an excellent game. I honestly believe it could go either way.

Is there a good visitors lockerroom? East and West Carter have decent ones, but they're in the gym which is a little bit of a walk to the field.

Tough game for our boys, but it was good to see them playing as well as they did. Mason County is much better than their record IMO (super tough schedule), Black is a tough player running the option. Its always tough losing a game last second, but for our team I felt we had a lot of positives. To be 0-4 and to only trail a program like Mason County for around 4 minutes the entire game says alot about the kids we have and how hungry they are to start winning games. I wish Coach Buchanan & the Royals the best of the luck going forward this season.

Deliberately trying to embarrass the opponent by continuing to score when the outcome has been determined. I define this as onside kicks, trick plays, deep passes trying to score, calling time-outs, fast-tempo no huddle, or simply not subbing when a team has enough to do so. In high school and below I have a problem with this. In college & NFL I don't have a problem in the world with it, but I do think a coach is dumb for risking injuries. That said I have no problem with a team trying to continue to get first downs. I have no problem with letting the young guys air it out a little in the games where both teams have subs in and the subs are evenly matched. I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't feel embarrassed if a team did it to me.

How great is it that this is even a question? I have so much respect for the program they have built at Trinity. Any Trinity player, coach, booster, fan, etc. should be proud there is even a thread on this. And for East or West Carter I would say no, to answer the question.

One of the coaches I coach with went to the game. He said he wants Towles to start next year at UK. He came away really, really impressed with his savvy, arm strength, and overall ability.

Congrats to the Tomcats. I was hoping they would win this game.

Guys I've never been a fan of the whole "we've got to outscore people" philosophy in football. Its true because you have to score to win. But I take too much pride in defense to want to onside kick everytime. If a team is ahead 29-0 a still onside kicking in a HS football game I have a problem. If a team is ahead by a couple of scores & onside kicks I have a problem with that philosophy. Maybe its "smart football" but it will never be real football to me. If not playing defense is a team strength I see that as a sign of weakness. Play great defense, be productive on offense, have very good special teams. That is a complete football team to me. Whatever the Arky coach is doing is gutless to me, #3 team in the state shouldn't have to onside kick every time IMO. Personally I'll never agree with that philosophy, it is fine if you do, obviously the people of that fanbase love it. Personally, its a pathetic philosophy & that has to be an acceptable answer to you guys. I'm done defending it.

Not at all. I'm a fast paced kind of guy in anything. If LM was getting out of the way on defense so they could get the ball back I'd have a problem.

To me that is totally different. Obviously we disagree on the subject. If you're a HC & I'm ever a HC, maybe we'll play and you can on-side kick until the scoreboard blows up.

Here's the thing, the coaches I've been under stress Special Teams so I'd hope we could get some of those onside kicks. We'd only be practicing special teams about 20-25 minutes per day minimum.

I don't see how it would hurt a teams chances. But style is a huge thing for me. I would hate to win like that. I'm sorry I like all 3 facets of the game. Being up 29-0 after four straight onside kicks, I wouldn't feel that great about it. I know everyone is different, but I think that is cheating the game. I'd rather lose the right way than cheat the game & win. I'm the most competitive guy in the world, but I wouldn't want to win like that.

What I'm saying is that in that situation no one is really on offense. At 10 yards everyone is in the same position, its a free, live ball & no one has possession. There's no offense & no defense for those few seconds.

Its not the same Clyde. In a press, the offense has the ball and can control who they pass to. On an onside kick, the defense controls the ball and technically the offense could never touch it. Can the return team call a time out when the play has started? Does a press prevent the oppostion from taking the ball out of bounds?

On an onside kick? Maybe technically, but not really. After 10 yards its a change of possession play. Its a free ball, the playside guys are aggresively going for the football. Is that really being on defense?

No one in their right mind thinks like that. But if given the choice of kicking off deep, stopping a team & forcing a punt and getting great field position, I'll take that everytime. Not only do you get the ball back in good field position, but you also take care of your eating up the clock mentality. Not to mention physically wearing out your opponent.

Pressing in basketball and onside kicking in football are not even remotely the same thing. Not even close. Pressing is defense, case closed. You're better than that one Clyde .

If you're down 28-0, you haven't played well enough to win the game anyway. After they get to 21, I would just be challenging my guys to man up, take it one play at a time, and see where the score is at the end of the game.

Not very well for the opposition. But, you'll never convince me that onside kicking everytime is real football. That is something I'd expect in another country or something. That is like Euro style basketball compared to American IMO. Its sad to me that the #3 team in a state would feel they needed to do that to win. For an average team I could see it, but if Trinity, Highlands, Beechwood were doing it here people would throw a fit and you know it Clyde. As a defense first guy, I will never see that type of football as something I'd want to play. More power to that coach and anyone else that plays like that.

It is a defensive special team in my book. You only get to return punts after good defense. I'd rather kick-off and get a 29 point lead the old fashioned way. But if of the two options you provided, I'd rather line up and play all 3 facets of the game, so I would kick-off yes. To be honest, getting 4 on-sides kicks to start the game would feel like cheating to me, even though the opponent has every chance in the world to recover the ball or two play defense. At one score I think that momentum is still up for grabs. If a team is up by one score, by all means try and steal some momentum. At two scores, line up and play some defense.
