Winless Football Series in the State

Featured Replies

Finding out Central is winless against St. X in football in 31 career games (0-29-2) got me to wondering if there is longer winless streak in a series in the state?

I know Trigg County beat Mayfield a few years back after an 0-24 start.

Trinity is 23-0 vs. Waggener and 22-0 vs. J-town.

Anyone else?

Beechwood has never beat Mayfield

Murray has beat Mayfield but has only done so 1 time since the early 70's. When they were in the same class Mayfield and Murray played twice a year most years

what about NewCath vs. Ludlow? They were in the same district for years.

Murray and Mayfield met six times in the postseason from 1995-2006. Mayfield won five of the six, with the only Murray win coming by a score of 7-0 in 1997. I'm sure Cardinal fans remember that one!

I doubt they are the longest but Garrard County does have two fairly long streaks:

-Garrard has an 11-0 record against Madison Southern

-Garrard has an 0-10 record against Somerset

Holy Cross has never beaten BW. I think it's 0-15.

Shawnee is 0-12 vs Doss and 0-7 vs St. X. Valley is 0-9 vs Atherton. Spartan, who is BW? Holy Cross has a 1-12 record vs. Trinity and 2-11 vs. St. X. Holy Cross is 12-1 vs. Shawnee. Eastern is 0-6 vs. St. X and 2-34 vs. Trinity.

PRP is 0-17 vs. St. X. Central is 9-0 vs. North Bullitt.

Highlands is 30-0 all-time vs. Scott

BW is Beechwood. Spartan was referring to Covington Holy Cross, not Louisville.

True and that was the first and last Murray win since the early 70's with the teams playing twice a year many of those years

As many good teams as Murray has had, that's a hard stat to believe. If Mayfield/Tilghman is a 10 rivalry, what would you rate Mayfield/Murray?

For me Murray is my favorite of all 3 of our traditional rival games. In other words I would rather beat Murray than PT or Graves. I guess I really don't follow the question you ask so Im not sure I answered it correctly. The Graves game is likely the biggest to the younger folks, the PT game is the biggest to the older and the Murray game is with alot of explayers that played from 10 to 30 years ago due to alot of bad blood. Just my take but I think alot would agree. PT get the most attention and is the only series that is close in wins and is the oldest

Thanks toothpick. That's exactly what I was asking. I love hearing from fans about their views on rivalries. Its funny how they change over time and different opponents mean different things to different age groups.

Since the early 60's Murray has only beaten Mayfield 2 or 3 times. I'd say they have played 50 to 60 times in that span.

Not sure of the exact number but Rockcastle County has never lost to Madison Southern...I would say close to 20 or so games but don't hold me to an exact number.
