LRCW
AT41, Man you are blasting your freshman coach. You ever think Russell just won the game. This coming from the king of critisizing Ashland coaching?  :sssh: :sssh:
Goliath
Why is Bonner not the QB? He is their starting TE/WR. Daniel McDavid,is the normal quarterback and is one of the teams best players on both sides of the ball. He was out because of a concussion however. LRCW
Why is Bonner not the QB? Baldcock isn't the 1st string QB. The first string QB is Daniel McDavid (Drew's younger brother) and he has been out for about the past 4 weeks.
DEVILPRIDE78
:fire: Great win for Russell coaching staff &freshman players. Russell had about 15 players on the side line that were freshman. The others were 8th graders. Russell players stepped up and many players never came out of the game. The usual cross town rivalry is always a barn burner. #13 Abrams played a heckuva game and was well deserving of Offensive MVP. ( JFL 49ers) Good job Drew. Turnovers were rampant on both sides of the field.
Play 2 Win
Ok, So I did not make it to the game, but it sounds like on paper Ashland is probably better, but Russell capitalized on mistakes and won the game. So realistically, I know they only play once and that's all that counts, but if they play 10 times what is the breakout. Plaese only reply if you are being thoughtful. I really don't want to see any 10-0 either way.
goherd96
Honestly, very likely 1-9 and no better than 3-7 in favor of Ashland. Russell was just able to take better advantage of Ashland's mistakes last night.
Red Shift
It's hard for me to determine. If you put Russell and Ashland Freshman out in front of a Kiwanis Bowl crowd, then Ashland appeared to be rattled, and I would say its about 3-7 or maybe 4-6 in favor of Ashland. But again, neither team impressed me for the first 3 quarters. Russell simply capitalized off of mistakes. It's a tough call because I hadn't either team before last night's game, so perhaps in another environment it would have been different. Ashland simply looked bad for the first three quarters of the ball- game. I was very surprised to see that Ashland had over 300 yards of offense, but I would wager that a most of those came in the fourth quarter, or late in the third. Russell won when they took advantage of Ashland mistakes. Ashland mistakes might have been a result of the large crowd and pageantry of the Kiwanis Bowl. I could be wrong in this assumption, but I was lead to believe that the Ashland Freshmen had a very good football team and for whatever reason when I left that game, I was not impressed. Red Shift
Please note that in my previous post that Ashland's freshman team might have been very good or even exceptional, but they did not appear to be last night.

Come on guys, lets not dwell on the what-if's...Lets just congratulate Russell coaches and players on their gameplan and effort to overcome a good Ashland team. That could happen 10 times, so it could be unanimous...but like I said we shouldnt dwell on that. I thought the playcalls was a little questionable at end of game for Ashland, but I wasnt there to know the situation.
Goliath
Ashland just choked like i said earlier. They were clearly the better team. They outgained Russell 331-115 in totaly yards.

I was at the game and it looked like Russell had just as many fans if not more. The Pride runs deep at Russell. Gives the kids there dues. Thay wanted it more than Ashland. They never quit and if they were tired it did not show. Some bad play calling on Ashland last possesion was costly. Good Job Russell
