  1. Congrats to the RED DEVILS. Great atmosphere for Friday night football. Glad to see #38 Bailey get it together and have a very good game. Much deserved MVP. Russell controlled the game but came out sluggish and had a wake up call when The 1st half Russell did not have the ball much but when they did they made there presence known. Raceland keyed on #13 all night but found out that Russell has more than one weapon. You could see that the big Russell O-Line & D-fence lines was wearing on the Rams. And the second half it showed cause Raceland was moving E-W instead of N-S. Russell made the adjustments and took control. :fire::fire::fire:
  2. I agree. Would like to see Jones start then take a rest to heal up. This would be a good game for Cordle to get some good time under center. Abrams is the work horse and the players love to block for him. Russell cannot afford any more turnovers. Russell is starting to look good and showing many different formations. Coach Morris will have these kids ready and each game they continue improve. And every game means something. I hear that the Raceland PD will close down Rt23. n from 6pm to 10 pm friday night. And Rt 23 s for the over flow of Russell ARROGANCE.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: :fire::fire::fire:
  3. I like the sound of 3 clicks of the heels. 3 Trips to PAPA Johns, 3 State Titles. :fire::fire::fire:
  4. Russell is rolling for know and getting ready for the run. Raceland your wish is going to come true. All those, has been Russell fans, that moved down river a few miles. Your wish is going to come true . Hope Raceland has expanded for when the RED DEVILS come into town and those FAITHFUL followers, there will no room. They will have to shut down Rt 23 to sit all the fans that follow THERE RED DEVILS and the ARROGANCE that ozes out of every Russell player, fan,and faithful supporter. When your the best in the area every body is shooting at YA. Raceland better load your gun cause your next !!!!!!!! Russell 42 RAMBLERS 14 :fire::fire::fire:
  5. Congrats to Russell. Very hard fought but sloppy game. # 13 Abrams. One fundamental tough player and always leaves it on the field. The hit starting the 3rd Qtr by #13 set the pace for the second half. He hit that kid and moved him 7 yrds deeper after he went AIRBORNE. That is what the rest of the players have to play like. Offence & D-Fence. Russell seems to have hard time getting fired up before and during the game. Great game Drew. Russell played very sloppy. To many dropped passes and punts & kick offs by #38. Get focused. Russell running game was moving the ball and for the like of me why PASS ??????when your stud is getting you the 3Rd and short yardage. Then you would bring him out and sub when you need the short yds for a first down?????????? Congrats to Coach Morris for working with D-Fence and making some changes. Russell improves with each game and will be ready for the run in the playoffs. Congrats to the players for staying this game to the very end. Foster, Jones, Smith, Cornwell, Abrams, Rice, Roark, Dillon, Bender all played well on D-Fence. Nice to make only one trip down the AA. The next time they meet will be and the HANK. Congrats to Russell. Get that Pride and turn it loose. Raceland, Wishes do come true. And your is going to happen Friday. Russell has been dodging you for years???????:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: Russell is rolling and your in the line of path. :fire::fire::fire:
  6. :fire: What a great game. Russell #13 Abrams was the man the 1st half and seems like they didn"t use him much the 2nd half ?????? Russell obiviously needs to make some changes in the secondary. Russell up 35 - 19 at the half and it just seemed like they came out flat starting the 2nd half and let the momentum swing to the Pioneers. The dropped pass by #38 could have been the back breaker but Russell survived that. Why not let the clock run down in the single digits and then kick the field goal ??????? But the onside kick was really the real deciding factor. When you pooch kick it for HOW MANY YEARS and it actually worked for the 1st time tonight, Good job #30, and then decide to onside it when your ahead and give the ball to a team that can cover 30 to 50 yrds with one pass ???Understand you dont want the run back and how many times has that happened ??? Not a smart call ???? That catch by #19 was one awesome catch, Great player and all heart. The positive: This will make the players hungry for Mason Co. Did not quite understand the radio interview after the game. When you play a game like both of these teams played. A hard fought game. Yes there was some misques on both teams and each team rebounded from them. But to not step up as a coach and point the finger at yourself is not very tasteful to the player, fans, and parents to the kids who play for Russell. Russell fans give there heart also to the Red Devils every week in every sport. Very disrespectful. The players, the fans, and all those that love Russell football know where the blame is if anybody wants to take credit. :fire::fire::fire:

  8. Badcat, Does that mean there is also a teaching or counseling position available? As I understood it, Chad resigned as football coach, not his job as a teacher. Can you imagine going back into Fairview and having to deal with that atmosphere every day after what's happened? Well, I do know one thing. Those kids will never hear a sour or disparaging word out of his mouth about the situation. That's why he can hold his head high while others perhaps should not show their faces. Again, just my opinion. I bet he'd make a good fit with the other staff; Coaches Hart and Love are first class guys too. Keep us up to date, Badcat!
  9. I agree, Rambler. He would bring a lot to the table no matter where he ends up. Those boys think the world of him. Part of what made him a great coach at Fairview, I think, is that he really got attached to the kids. I'm sure that made it extremely difficult to make the decision to resign. Just wondering, do you all think this will cause kids to transfer out? Or do you think the parents will take a wait and see approach? Also, are there coaching spots open at other schools in this area?
  10. The real story won't be told by Coach Tackett; the newspaper article was a complete joke; Coach Tackett once again took the high road and said all that he felt like he could say in that ..."others wanted to go in a different direction and I didn't want to stand in the way of that"... or words to that effect. A lesser man would have spilled the beans and told the newspaper all that he'd been through these past few months. The wheels for Coach Tackett's departure have been turning for many months. One of the most humorous bits in the Independent's article was Rex Cooksey's statement that Fairview would now be "scrambling" to put together a coaching staff. When in truth, the Fairview sidelines (decided a while back) will be a veritable family affair this season: Nate and Garry McPeek, Rex and DEREK Cooksey, and of course, the esteemed leader of the Fairview school system Bill Musick. And if not this season, then certainly in the near future, look for his progeny, Zack Musick to be standing right by daddy on the sidelines. My friend on the Fairview school board tells me that Mr. Musick made the announcement that his every intention was to go back to coaching Fairview, and that when he got his "100th win", he would have his boy standing beside him helping coach... that was his dream. And to help set that dream in motion, he held a special school board meeting not long ago to ask them to change the rule that would allow him to have his cake and eat it too: coach football AND continue to be superintendent. If he had no immediate plans to return to coaching, why the urgent meeting? If you look at all the "coincidences" that have come about in the last few months, I think it would be almost impossible to ignore the plain facts that Mr. Musick does not have the Fairview boys at heart, but his own agenda instead. That's the one thing I do know about Chad Tackett: he wasn't a "company man". He didn't think about his own win/loss column and his own legacy being carried on... he was there, day in and day out, teaching young men not only the game of football, but life lessons as well.He surrounded them with quality people, and he was there for them on and off the field. The posts on this forum attest to the fact that not just the Fairview faithful (and in truth, we haven't heard from many of them) thought the world of him, but the rest of the football community saw the class and leadership he brought to the school and to the area as a whole. My two cents' worth on why more Fairview haven't posted is because if they have kids still in the system there, they probably fear that if they speak out, their kids will suffer as a result. I know I would! If this isn't a clearly painted picture of how Fairview treats its own, then nothing is! He WILL be missed, but not for long, I suspect; because the cream always rises to the top, the saying goes, and Coach Tackett is certainly the cream of the Fairview crop. And to the adminstration, the school board members with your heads in the sand, and whoever else was in on this: you should be ashamed of yourselves. Playing roughshod with a man's career, when the man has done nothing but bring honor and credibility to your program, especially when this man has a young family to take care of... unacceptable. I would sure love to see Chad brought out to Russell and added to our staff somewhere; as a tried and true 'Devils fan, it would be nothing but great to see our program get that kind of talent. All in all, it's a real shame to see the tradition, respect, and reputation of another area football program be damaged by the "good ol' boys" club. I hope the boys at Fairview play their hearts out this year; but not for anyone's memory or honor but their own. Because at this point, they're all each other's got. PS- Please keep in mind that these are my thoughts and opinions; no one else associated with BGP. I mean no malicious intent toward anyone at Fairview, I am simply voicing my thoughts and hoping to gain more insight to the situation through the other great members of this forum. Part of every great relationship is agreeing to disagree in some areas, is it not?:thumb:
  11. The administration at Fairview does their share of spinning. A good example is INSIDEZONE's post.
  12. I hope this is not a smack in the special teams face and just a showing of your good humor ?????????????? Evans is a good kid and probable one of the most consistent at showing up for practice every day. From Jan. weights to Jan. weights. No other kicker in Russell history has been there every with the players thru the off season weights and show for every practice.
  13. Didn't say that I disagree with it totally. But don't understand it starting off the game ??????? I know that Russell had a heck of a time with bad snaps or it would be a dropped hold and the kicker would take the blame with stride. Heck one game there 3 different holders and once there was not even a holder ???????????? That's like a QB having a different center every snap.
  14. I totally agree. Special teams can make a big difference in a game but when your coach wants you to squibb kick the ball and drop it around the 30 to 35 to prevent the run back ??????????? Don't understand it either. When #23 would kick it. The run back was normally around 6 - 12 yrds. So that would mean a kick dropped on the 6 to 15 and the ball would be run back to the around the 18 to 25. You figure the math instead of the 30 to 35. You figure the math.
  15. If you all new the whole facts about the kicking game. You would understand that it takes three. A good snap, a good hold, and a good kick. Russell kicker had 7 PAT's that he actually missed when he put a foot on it. The other where due to a bad snap or a dropped hold. Plus you can not mess with a kickers head when one time he kicks and the other time he dont ???????? The FG was called with over 8 min left in the 3rd Qtr. This game was lost due to the terrible play calling by the coaches ?????????????
