Fairview's new Coach?

Recommended Posts

I say it will be only 3 days before the super appoints himself as the new Head Coach. That gives the impression that they gave it alot of consideration. I could be wrong maybe Bill gives it to one of the McPeeks but I really doubt it:cry:

You forget Cooksey.

I think it will go something like: "Do to the late vacation of the head football coaching position, we the administration, thought it would be better to fill the position from someone who knows the kids and the program, so we are proud to announce that past coach Rex Cooksey will be filling the position, again, as head football coach of Fairview Independent Schools".

Someone pinch me , didn't Fairview just get over dropping football ?

Didn't they have a coach who was young and a proud alumni ?

How did this dream end by the program wanting to head in a different direction ?

What new direction could such a fraglie program want to take ?

Can anyone answer the questions ? ... makes no sense ...

This guy will rebound , if you can make a program at Fairview or any other small school .. you can coach ...

Rex has too good a basketball team to leave them. And with seasons overlapping I can't see that but I could see him helping as D coordinator again

OK, then just substitute Music's name in my previous post.

I think it will go something like: "Do to the late vacation of the head football coaching position, we the administration, thought it would be better to fill the position from someone who knows the kids and the program, so we are proud to announce that past coach Bill Music will be filling the position, again, as head football coach of Fairview Independent Schools".

If the search for a coach drags out to long, Musick would be a nice fill in until someone permenant is found. Granted some may not like him and his style, but the man knows power football and can coach the game.

You are right, Bill Musick knows the game but the forcing out of Tackett is the wrong way to get it back.:fight:

The real story won't be told by Coach Tackett; the newspaper article was a complete joke; Coach Tackett once again took the high road and said all that he felt like he could say in that ..."others wanted to go in a different direction and I didn't want to stand in the way of that"... or words to that effect. A lesser man would have spilled the beans and told the newspaper all that he'd been through these past few months.

The wheels for Coach Tackett's departure have been turning for many months. One of the most humorous bits in the Independent's article was Rex Cooksey's statement that Fairview would now be "scrambling" to put together a coaching staff. When in truth, the Fairview sidelines (decided a while back) will be a veritable family affair this season: Nate and Garry McPeek, Rex and DEREK Cooksey, and of course, the esteemed leader of the Fairview school system Bill Musick. And if not this season, then certainly in the near future, look for his progeny, Zack Musick to be standing right by daddy on the sidelines. My friend on the Fairview school board tells me that Mr. Musick made the announcement that his every intention was to go back to coaching Fairview, and that when he got his "100th win", he would have his boy standing beside him helping coach... that was his dream. And to help set that dream in motion, he held a special school board meeting not long ago to ask them to change the rule that would allow him to have his cake and eat it too: coach football AND continue to be superintendent. If he had no immediate plans to return to coaching, why the urgent meeting?

If you look at all the "coincidences" that have come about in the last few months, I think it would be almost impossible to ignore the plain facts that Mr. Musick does not have the Fairview boys at heart, but his own agenda instead. That's the one thing I do know about Chad Tackett: he wasn't a "company man". He didn't think about his own win/loss column and his own legacy being carried on... he was there, day in and day out, teaching young men not only the game of football, but life lessons as well.He surrounded them with quality people, and he was there for them on and off the field. The posts on this forum attest to the fact that not just the Fairview faithful (and in truth, we haven't heard from many of them) thought the world of him, but the rest of the football community saw the class and leadership he brought to the school and to the area as a whole. My two cents' worth on why more Fairview haven't posted is because if they have kids still in the system there, they probably fear that if they speak out, their kids will suffer as a result. I know I would! If this isn't a clearly painted picture of how Fairview treats its own, then nothing is!

He WILL be missed, but not for long, I suspect; because the cream always rises to the top, the saying goes, and Coach Tackett is certainly the cream of the Fairview crop. And to the adminstration, the school board members with your heads in the sand, and whoever else was in on this: you should be ashamed of yourselves. Playing roughshod with a man's career, when the man has done nothing but bring honor and credibility to your program, especially when this man has a young family to take care of... unacceptable. I would sure love to see Chad brought out to Russell and added to our staff somewhere; as a tried and true 'Devils fan, it would be nothing but great to see our program get that kind of talent.

All in all, it's a real shame to see the tradition, respect, and reputation of another area football program be damaged by the "good ol' boys" club. I hope the boys at Fairview play their hearts out this year; but not for anyone's memory or honor but their own. Because at this point, they're all each other's got.

PS- Please keep in mind that these are my thoughts and opinions; no one else associated with BGP. I mean no malicious intent toward anyone at Fairview, I am simply voicing my thoughts and hoping to gain more insight to the situation through the other great members of this forum. Part of every great relationship is agreeing to disagree in some areas, is it not?:thumb:

You are 100% correct DevilPride.... The Fairview administration has been putting this coaching staff together for the past several months... Coach Tackett was in a no win situation. I have ALOT of respect for Chad Tackett and wish him the best of luck in everthing he does. IMO he needed to get away from Fairview.... they dont know a good thing when it hits them right in the face.

I agree, Rambler. He would bring a lot to the table no matter where he ends up. Those boys think the world of him. Part of what made him a great coach at Fairview, I think, is that he really got attached to the kids. I'm sure that made it extremely difficult to make the decision to resign.

Just wondering, do you all think this will cause kids to transfer out? Or do you think the parents will take a wait and see approach?

Also, are there coaching spots open at other schools in this area?
