Fairview's new Coach?

You need to get your facts straight on the timeline of the meeting that you have listed as taking place. The meeting you talk about may have been last week but this situation arose long before last week and there were other one on one conversations that had occured before last week.

It was almost a full month after Coach Tackett applied for another job that anyone from the FHS administration met with Coach T and asked him to stay and made any apology for the things that were said or took place about the situation that has taken place. IMO if an administrator from any program really wanted to keep a football coach they would have met before almost a full month had passed to try and keep things moving in a positive direction. That timeline is what brings up a red flag and gets my attention that all is not being done in the best interest of the kids.

Have you ever stopped to think or really know why a coach would consider moving to another program? The answer would be that this situation has been ongoing as you stated.

As for the program being built back up, my answer would be that Music played a big part of the success as all coaches do. I would also say that Coach tackett was responsible for making the program a success the last few years and his record speaks for itself. How many kids went on to play football at the next level before coach Tackett? I remember just a few short years ago that the program did not exist and that also played a role in the success, it made the kids hungry to gain back the respect that they worked for. No matter whom the coach is the success of a program falls in the hands of the kids. The kids are the program and when something of this magnitude takes place ( as things are now) the ones who suffer the most are the kids. Caoch Tackett always had the kids best interest at heart and I believe if you ask any player that played under his leadership they will tell you they are a better individual today because of Coach T.

How in the world do you "run off" a person a week before the season if he resigns. I think that some people should put the word slander in their vocabulary. I know that the administration at Fairview met with Coach Tackett for 5 hours last week and did everything possible to get him to stay. That is a fact, not rumor. It is also a well known fact over in Westwood that Coach Tackett has been looking to leave for several years. And by the way, who really built the program back up - Tackett or Musick?

That may have very well been fact but a fact that is being coverd up is that it was that same FHS admin. that put their plan in motion as far back as May of 07' (maybe before) to oust Tackett. They from what I understand covered it up well (or tried to) but when it was found out that is when they started back tracking and asking him to stay. That was the way that it was explained to me by more than one individual that I trust very much that were / still are very close to the situation.

I stated in the other thread on ths matter and I will say it again Coach Chad Tackett brought a level Class to Fairview Football that imo was not there in any of their years before. Coach Musick did build a good team at Fairview, there is no doubt about that. Imo Chad Tackett took it and continued, just didn't play "politics". Coach Tackett gained respect of his players and opponets players and coaches as well. As it seems to be he had respect from all but his own admin..

It was in last Fridays edition of the Daily Independet. I tried to pull the link from the other thread back up but it had expired. Maybe you could check the back articles of the Independent and find it.

Nice comments cville. :thumb:

Now that a another coach has been named at Fairview I will hope that Coach Tackett can (and I am sure the he can) and will (again, I am sure that he will) put this mess behind him and I wish Coach Chad Tackett nothing but the best in the future (unless he coaches somewhere that plays Raceland, then I can't on the night of that game :D ).

Good Luck Coach Tackett..................good things happen to good people and you are good people. :thumb:

Well said oldrambler. I couldn't agree more. Coach Tackett is a great person and he will do good were ever he goes. I wish him the best.

^ Thanks , I will make that (and this one my last post on this subject-Tackett). I am sure that he would want to put it behind him and move foward. He is all class and I woud expect nothing else from him.

Without getting anyones underdrawers in a wad, does any of this resemble the GC basketball saga to anyone else? Perhaps it's just me.

I will add that I know that both McPeeks are quality guys and should bring quite a bit of experience and football knowledge to the table. Just wonder how much they'll get to input. I wish them the best.
