Right Wing Extremists: A Homeland Security Report

Recommended Posts

Key Findings

Rightwing extremists have capitalized on the election of the first African American president, and are focusing their efforts to recruit new members, mobilize existing supporters, and broaden their scope and appeal through propaganda, but they have not yet turned to attack planning.

The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.

Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans likely would attract new members into the ranks of rightwing extremist groups, as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for violence against the government. The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.

Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to boost their violent capabilities.

The Obama Administration has officially declared war on its own military along with every conservative. I'm probably beiong taken to the reeducation camp as you read this.

I'm confused at your response HHS. Are you saying Homeland Security should not look into Right Wing Groups?

Despite the Oklahoma City evidence that they are worth investigating?

I'm sure this is all over the blogosphere by now but if you step back and look at it, their job is to assess potential hot spots. I don't believe they are targeting conservatives as I imagine there are other left wing organizations who they also assess for potential danger.

If you read the whole report, you find that they are defining right wing extremists include those who believe in the 10th amendment, 2nd amendment, returning troops, etc. Because one doesn't agree with the government makes one dangerous?

My bad. I was only looking at the places you revealed in your post.

What they were saying in that was a monitoring situation. Shouldn't the so called "Homeland Security" do just that? Monitor groups and tendencies both foreign and domestic? One thing you didn't quote that stuck out right away when I glanced at it was the impact of economic situations that breed extreme in discontented groups.

I didn't see an extreme here, just a report that said watch for any signs of trouble brewing. Probably the same stuff that used to be said about the SDS, Black Panthers and the like some 40 years ago.

Hold it just a minute HHSD! Are you (and the report) saying that I could possibly be labeled as a Radical Right Wing Extremist??? I most definitely believe in the 10th & 2nd amendment...I also believe the federal govt should have less power over the states. Should a guy like me stop posting on message boards before they come and haul me to jail?

Does the report mention anything about Radical Left Wing Extremists like Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and some of the other past cohorts (which I can't spell) of BHO's?:puke:

I'm just throwing out a warning for y'all. I was hoping that the blind followers of Barack would take off their rose colored glasses sooner than the Bush crowd did. But hey, I can make a living in a bankrupt, socialist nation. You'll still have to pay taxes and LOTS of them.

I've been wondering if that's ever going to happen.

I'm with you my brother.:thumb:

I'm not wearing any rose colored glasses, and I'm not a blind follower. But I'm not sure what there is to get really upset about. Hey, I was told I was wrong when I was upset about the previous administrations support of tapping my phone. So, I'm not going to get upset now when apparently my rights are being somehow violated.

I had no problem with what the previous administration did to protect our nation. I also do not see a problem with the present administration keeping a close eye on extremist right wing groups.

Where I do see a problem is trying to generalize groups into extremist much like Clinton flirted with after the OKC bombing. It is very dangerous. I have seen no evidence that Obama has went to that stage and I will cut him some slack if he doesnt clearly cross those boundaries. Intelligence should always be keeping a close eye on those that tend to be extreme, liberal or conservative. I applaud the man for this, though I am extremely conservative.

Like I said, go ahead and ride that train...but I'm telling you the bridge is out. Obama is going for total control of the US. What I can't figure out is whether he wants it to make us a Marxist nation; to make us apart of the one world government movement; he really hates America so he wants to bring us down; or he just loves power.

Bush may go down in history as the second worst president of the former United States of America having paved the way for the man who destroyed this country, Barack Obama.

And yeah, I'm extremely peeved that this administration is calling our soldiers dangerous to the United States as Obama sends more of them to Afghanistan.

I agree with all that you have said in the bolded. As far as the unbolded, I do disagree to some extent. I feel that unless there's reason otherwise, a citizen has a reasonable expectation of privacy. I'm not unduly upset though. I'm not exactly prone to any conversations or e-mail, etc, that could be construed as terroristic. I'm pretty sure anyone listening or reading would maybe be amused, but never feel threatened. Most often, they'd be bored.
