There needs to be laws to protect the consumer, but not to micromanage our lives. Consumers have to bear a responsibility as well. - fiscal responsibility and not to be a nanny (socialist) state. Mr.Fundamental
I like this thread! Domestically I want the Federal Income Tax to cease to exist, since it is unconstitutional. I want education for all people to the age of 18 supported by sales tax. I want a police where criminals were dealt with more harshly. I want to end most social programs I want to end all bail-outs I want all roads to be taken care off, supported by a sales tax. I want an election where ideas are what people vote for not party lines. Foreign I want a military with the might to defend the US I want to end all free trade with the rest of the world I want an isolationism policy on all Middle East countries that do not recognize Isreal as a country I want an aggressive policy towards Russia and China What do you think

For that matter how do you fund prisons as well? Sales tax will only get you so far and my question becomes "Is that a federal sales tax or state one?" If state, how do you support the military? Understanding that our Founding Fathers made no provisions concerning the institution of slavery, do we go back to that as possibility? Indentured servitude? bballfamily
Understanding that our Founding Fathers made no provisions concerning the institution of slavery, do we go back to that as possibility? Indentured servitude? Have you forgotten the 13th Amendment? When I say I say original intent that is how you get it done. When wish to see a major change of this nature you pass a constitutional amendment, you do not have the courts to make up things. Mr. Fundamental wants the income tax done away with, but let us remeber that the 16th amendment was passed. The reason they went this route is that 2 previous income tax laws were ruled unconstitutional by the Sumpreme Court in the late 1800's. I believe these are just 2 good examples of original intent. HHSDad
There is actually a case going on that has made it to the Supreme Court! Keep our fingers cross. Why? How will our military be paid and our roads paved? I have no problem with paying income tax. I feel that I get a decent return out of it.

No. The phrase: Founding Fathers implies the framers of the Constitution. They did not pass the 13th Amendment. Now if you are pointing out they did set up an Amendment process, certainly. I do find it amusing that you want to do away with the Federalization of Personal Taxes but want a strong military. It didn't work well prior to the eventual Nationalization of this country over time in the 19th century. I don't think it work well now either. You asked for a lot in your post but then asked to do away with the means to fund it.
