The 11th region is loaded and I would not like the duty of picking the Player of the Year. You have Gray from Scott County, London from LCA, Snowden from Lex Cath and numerous others that some may say should be a contender.

I would guess that Rebecca Gray will get the nod, but the region is loaded.

When she is healthy, Laura Terry can't be touched. She has been ill most of this season, but her game against Belfry showed the skills she can display when she is feeling well, the skills we all witnessed in Bowling Green last year. Of course, I wouldn't be upset if Queen were picked, and she most likely will be. Her accomplishments on the floor can't be overlooked, and w/ Terry not at 100% most of the year, Emily has had to shoulder a lot of responsibilty that otherwise would have been shared w/ Terry.

I think it will be determined by which school wins the region. If Russell wins, it will be Fortman. If Rose Hill wins, it will be, most likely, Queen. If Rowan County wins, it could be Barr. Of course, like last year, politics will enter the picture.

Area POY, a more distinguished achievement, could follow the same pattern. Laura Terry got it last year.

as far as meaning the most to her team i would say ceira ricketts, tia gibbs is also a great player. here are some of ceira's stats.Ceira Ricketts should be all state she is only a junior and she already has 2167 career points.749 Career rebounds, 386 career assists and 597 career steals Career steals ranks her 5th all time in the state, she needs 18 to move up to 4th. Her Freshman year total of 160 steals places 16th all time in single season in state. Her 175 steals in her sophomore year ranks 9th all time in the state for single season. she is averaging 18.9 points 7 rebounds 4 assists and 5 steals per game this year against one of the toughest schedules in the state. she has already became the all time leader in scoring at fairdale for both boys and girls. She has two career quad doubles.

If a player from Rowan were to be POY IMO it would have to be Hughes. She is the heart, soul, and leader of that team!

The 12th and 13th Regions are up for grabs.

In the 12th, I think you could go for Cowan, Waters, Sarah Rowe (Rockcastle County) or any of a couple other players.

In the 13th, I will agree that Messer is probably the best but that's because the region is fairly young. In any other year, I really don't think she'd be top 3.
