Melly Heaton was voted the 2nd Region Player of the Year. Caldwell County's coach Josh Barnett was also voted 2nd Region Coach of the Year. They are 17-7 this season while starting three freshmen, one junior, and one senior. Coach Barnett and Melly have both done a great job this season! Congratulations to each of them......

As of yet I have not seen anything posted about who has won the POY in the Ninth Region. Now I will admit that I am biased, but IMO Nicole Dickman of Notre Dame Academy should be the pick..... She has done everything from scoring, rebounding, defending, to being a team leader this season, that a POY candiate could to do for a team that is 22-4.... Great job Nicole!

Whitney Ballinger for Carroll County in the 8th region. Named today.

12th: Lindsey Waters, McCreary Central.

Agree!!

In the 16th Region I would have to say it should be either Emily Queen or Laura Terry of Rose Hill. Either one would be worthy in my opinion.

No question, the 16th region's POY is Jessica Fortman.

Nice pick!

10th region - Maggie Prewitt or Courtney Danis of Montgomery Co. or it could be Lacey Cline or Deserae Chambers from Mason Co.

As for a player that means the most to a contending team I would have to go with Desarae Chambers of Mason Co. in the 10th region.

Danis and Chambers are huge for their teams. Without Chambers, I don't see Mason being very successful. She draws attention to herself and opens up a lot of things for other players. Chambers is an all-around player and can do anything, and is by far the MVP of her team, no doubt. I see her getting POY.

Danis is huge for her team as well, being an outside threat, as well as a strong post player.

Id say the 10th would be Deserae, but ya never know.

She's young, but I like Rachel Vanderhoof (Raceland).

16th Region....PAUL !

No surprise there.
