Mitch Rapp
:lol2: Not sure I've seen Orwell used to support a condemnation of a leftist POV. Animal Farm was a condemnation of the leftist POV.
Mitch Rapp
A. I believe you should replace Conway or Spicer. :lol2: B. An infrastructure/jobs bill pushed by Trump to the Republican congress could include both govt jobs and jobs produced by the private sector. FTR, Trump is the one who said he would create jobs and said our infrastructure was third world. Those are things I can get behind. A. Trump owes his presidency to Conway. She should have a job with the administration as long as she wants. B. Government spending is a very inefficient and ineffective way to create jobs. It is a drag on our economy, not a stimulus. C. I think everybody who follows the news knows that Trump proposed a big stimulus program. I support Trump, but I don't march in lockstep with him. He is not a conservative and he does not embrace many conservative positions. Liberals should be celebrating Trump's election. I am celebrating Hillary Clinton's defeat, but my guy lost the election and would never have proposed a big government spending package to "stimulate" the economy. capt278
Hell, I'm liberal. I worked today, because my company doesn't observe Presidents Day. :lol2: I said feel the same way the "protesters" do. I didn't say anything about not working. Hellcats
Animal Farm was a condemnation of the leftist POV. Early in the novel the animals are living "high on the hog" while they are employing communist principles. After a violent takeover the farm slides into a dictatorship that resembles the same situation they had before they revolted hence the final scene where the animals can't tell the difference between the humans and the pigs. The whole novel is an allegory representing the Russian Revolution and Stalin's rise to power. Most of Stalin's reign didn't look much like communism. And since Orwell was a socialist, the text is actually an argument on how power can corrupt what he sees as the best laid plans. Don't worry, DN, I was taught Animal Farm is another shining example that capitalism is the best way too, but on close read Orwell doesn't give capitalism a pass. The neighboring farmers are capitalistic, and they also take advantage of their animals. Additionally, they use the wealth accrued from the backs of their animals to mettle in the affairs of other farms instead of make their own farm better.
