Saint Henry will get a few players that would help CovCath in some type of role as the program continues to grow. It will impact the amount of quality depth CovCath has on the team.

This happens every year. NewCath plays superior teams early, loses, everyone thinks they stink, then they win the district and make a playoff run. Despite what the KHSAA commissioner wants to say, this rule changed sometime between the 2015(only old bylaw book I could find) and 2024 limitation of seasons of the KHSAA bylaws. Part C of the rule was deleted and part H of the rule was added. Rule C allowed for football specific, non-contact activities during June, so deleting C and adding H is what eliminated all football activity in June. With this change, any team that does any coach led or organized football drills in June is out of compliance with the limitation of seasons. The June basketball/July football rule came into effect sometime around 2008. Here is the Bylaw for football limitation of seasons from 2015: (4) From June 1 through June 24: a. Schools shall not issue football equipment included in NFHS Rule 1-5 other than the helmet, with the exception of an all-star game or individual camp as detailed; b. Driving 30+ minutes away from home mid afternoon to coach football for a small stipend before driving 30+ minutes back home is not an ideal situation. The website leaves much to the imagination. Calling this JUCO is a stretch at best, because there is nothing about college anywhere on the website. "NJCP operates as a junior college prep program, giving athletes the ability to compete in a full season of football while maintaining NCAA eligibility. My guess is this league is a pay to play opportunity to catch all of the portal athletes who transfer, but do not ever get picked back up by a team.

This divisor for private schools is pure ignorance. They should just call it the CAL rule because that is the only level that a private has run the state that will be affected by this rule. Football is football. I have watched 1A and 2A teams beat the snot out of 4A, 5A and 6A teams. Scott, if they are smart will be playing a lower level competitive non-district schedule. If they beat Boone County, they are in the playoffs. There is no reason why Scott should not be able to schedule several 6-4/7-3 seasons to build momentum. Dixie, Conner, Boone and Cooper all play kids both ways and have similar player numbers to Scott. Coaching against 5A teams with a 5A team will not be the barrier some are suggesting. Having the creativity to navigate a small roster with no depth is far more challenging than competing against 5A teams with a 5A roster..

If the KHSAA wanted to make a significant, impactful adjustment to the alignment, they would create a Free and Reduced Lunch adjustment that lowers student enrollment numbers for schools that have high numbers of free and reduced lunch students. It is a fact that schools with higher percentages of FRL students have less participation in athletics, especially football. Just to add, RPI needs to be flushed down the toilet.
