Beechwood has a solid freshman group, but that score says more about CCH than it does Beechwood.

I told my Beechwood friends that they would win by at least 40. You're right though, this is more about CCH.

It is solidly not and they are wrong and uneducated on the subject.

Ya, to say they're the WORST is probably not fair. They ARE considerably down though. Highlands played them at their best Week 1 and even then both teams were fighting the injury bug. Additional injuries have only caused CCH to fall further down the list.

I will say that St. Henry building their program cannot help. CCH WILL be better, but it won't come as easy now that they have to fight the Crusaders for talent. St. Henry has a lot of quality Freshman that would have gone to CCH otherwise.

Football in the area is better when CCH is good, so I hope this is just a blip on the radar.

It's a case by case scenario, I'm sure, but if I was a kid that wanted to play some football in high school, and potentially beyond, I would rather go to CCH than St. Henry. Sure, I'm a homer, for CCH, but it surprises me that they have lost out on a lot of potential kids.

I said the exact same thing when St. Henry announced they were starting a Football program. Uh oh in Park Hills! It may not show immediately but it's going to run its course. You won't convince me otherwise.

If it's not St Henry then they will continue to migrate to Ft Mitchell.

Hey, I know of a school in Highland Heights that does well in Football. 🤪 We are even getting New Facilities in the next couple of years. New Stands and all! The opposing Teams will finally get a Regular Sideline...🤣

Based upon the past two seasons, one has to think the St. Henry impact is real.

I want to live to see the day St. Henry goes toe to toe with Beechwood on the gridiron at the varsity level. Will that be anytime soon? It's an honest question, no disrepect to St. Henry. I know they are a new program.

If I am a talented football kid, or the parent of one, and the decision for school is only between St. Henry or CCH, I am going to the school that goes toe to toe with other regional blueboods, Beechwood and Highlands, every year. That's looking at it just from a football lens.

From what I know, this year's CCH freshman team is not an indicator of St. Henry impacting CCH. This group has struggled at every level. They were winless as 8th graders last year.

Highlands played Cov Cath at their best for less than one quarter of football. A season-ending broken arm for their only quarterback in the first half of that game put a hell of a damper on the season for a team that was winless as 8th graders in the GCYL. Now the team is up to a half-dozen or so starters standing on the sidelines in their civies with season-ending injuries.

I lean much further towards "blip in the radar." The current CYF 8th grade team, 6th grade team, and 4th grade team are all presently ranked #1 in their respective GCYL age divisions with 3-0 records. Don't worry, the sky is not falling in Park Hills.

This! St. Henry, no disrespect, has had and will have zero impact on Colonel Football. This frosh team was the big school runner up in the 6th grade in the GCYL and had a winning record as 7th graders. 8th grade was devastating year for this squad as they dealt with 2 very key/devastating injuries while at the same time losing 4 additional core/key starters to baseball - and not to St. Henry.

Tate Kruer's 8th grade squad went winless, as @UKato91 pointed out in the Colonel 2026 team thread, and were not good as frosh and then by senior year they absolutely rolled, and balled out en route to one of the biggest upsets in recent memory beating nationally 15th ranked Boyle County on the road. 2028 & 2029 will be no issue for this squad.

For this year, if you look at the sidelines you have more kids in street clothes than in uni's. Not one team yet has played this frosh team even close at full strength, and will not. They have had as many as 8 two-way starters out for the first 4 games with 3rd string WR's playing on both lines. With 4 minutes left in the first quarter of the first game against Highlands they watched 3 starters, including their starting QB go to the hospital. That included 1 who left via ambulance, immobilized after a 45 minute pause on the field and it left them devastated and utterly and criminally undermanned. You are beating a shell of this team. It's neither an accomplishment nor an upset because we all know by 2029 what the results will be when they take the field as seniors.....dominance, period. Wait until everyone sees their QB play next year.....and Dylan Courtney, our current varsity QB and arguably the best QB in NKY, missed his 8th grade & frosh seasons, with the same injury the current frosh QB has and the results speak for themselves now and they will in 2028 & 2029. The frosh QB is special and on another level.

They start to get healthy this week slowly, but will never be at full strength this year. St. Henry, while a tremendous school, no doubt about it, is not having any impact on Cov. Cath. football whatsoever, and will not. They are not comparable in the slightest. This frosh team will have tough sledding no doubt so everyone can take some joy in it now and get a notch in their belt because it is just blip that will explode away decisively starting next year. The future will see the same standard met and exceeded for this class as is the usual at Cov. Cath. as this team gets healthy and seasoned as is always the case.

The Frosh Colonels will absolutely be fine going forward. Only folks not in the know are worried as this is a special group that no one yet has seen them play.....and when you do it will be Roll Colonels!!!
