With the SK/Highlands game canceled by SK and Beechwood beating Dixie, next week's matchup between the Tigers and the Bluebirds will be a battle of the last two unbeatens. Highlands enters game three of a brutal three game stretch and Beechwood comes in with back to back monster games against Highlands and Ryle. BW/HHS is always the game I personally circle at the beginning of the year so really looking forward to this one. Be on the lookout for this specific game thread from @FrankNicodemus once the other games get played. Should be a fun one to discuss.

Nothing yet. Considering it's Wednesday and a number of Freshman will likely play against Harrison County on Friday and Beechwood JV on Saturday, I don't think they will get an opponent for Thursday.

I'm sure St. Henry's announcement of a $4M campaign to build a new athletic facility and renovating their locker rooms will have ZERO impact.

SK canceled their Freshman game against HHS due to an impetigo (bacterial skin infection) outbreak in their locker room. HHS doing its best to find another opponent last minute. Kudos to any team that steps up to the face this Birds squad on short notice.

@MaddenCurse44 , you're the resident SK expert. Thoughts on the game, or SK more specifically? I don't think SK's record is indicative of their talent (they were loaded w/talent), but this is pretty much the same Twenhofel team who absolutely dominated in 7th and 8th grade. Ya, I know MS is not THE indicator of how a team will fare in HS, but it is AN indicator. The change has been pretty drastic from last year to this one (at least in terms of record and scores). Thoughts?

The 4-0 Freshman Birds head to Independence to face-off with the 2-2 Simon Kenton Pioneers. Despite their .500 record, expect the Pioneers, led by stud QB Ethan Hopkins, to put up a good fight against the Bluebirds. Hopkins, who got his first Varsity TD last Friday against Conner, can both run and throw the ball all over the field and will look to put it on the Bluebirds. QB Jaxston Moeves, who also starts on the one-loss JV squad and backs up sensational Sophomore Bryce Armstrong on Friday nights, as well as RB Noah Brown led the Birds to a huge victory over the once undefeated Ryle Raiders last Thursday and are looking to keep their momentum going. The Birds face a currently undefeated Beechwood team next week and should not look ahead to that game and take the Neers lightly. Kickoff: 6:00p, Thursday 9/24/26 @ Simon Kenton Previous Matchups: The core of this SK team played for Twenhofel and historically had the Birds' number. In 7th grade, Twenhofel, with Hopkins under center, beat HMS in the regular season and again in the Semifinals. In 8th grade, with Moeves playing up for the High School, the Breds once again beat the Bluebirds in the regular season 39-6 before losing to HMS 32-25 in an amazing Championship Game led by QB Austin Hamblen, RB Noah Brown, and WR Gus Bouldin. There's no love lost between these two teams so expect records to go out the window as they meet on Thursday. Common Opponents: CCH: Birds won 42-0, SK won 40-22 Dixie: Birds won 48-8, SK lost 8-0 Game Link: Researching and will post if/when found. HHS JV beat Ryle 56-7. It was 21-0 in the first three minutes with HHS scoring those 21 points on only a single offensive play. Junior DL Layton Riesenbeck blocked a punt that set HHS up inside the five with HHS scoring on the next play. On Ryle's next offensive play, Riesenbeck had another TD on an impressive scoop and score sack. It was all Birds the rest of the way with a number of HHS freshman getting solid action. Scary moment on that TD sack as the Ryle QB was taken off by ambulance after sustaining what looked to be a concussion. Word is the young man is doing better, but the stadium was silent with both teams and fans worried about his health. Thoughts are with him and his family and hope he has a full and speedy recovery. Football is a tough game, but no one wants to see that. This is the third time THIS YEAR an opponent of HHS has been taken off by stretcher with cervical collar (CCH Freshman, Campbell County Varsity, Ryle JV). Fortunately, they've all been precautionary, but I've never seen ONE instance of this happening in all my years watching football and for it to happen three times in one year is incredibly frightening.

Who is this Freshman QB you speak of that no one has heard of? What Middle School did he go to? He may very well be "special" as you say, but I know of no other high-level MS QBs not named Jaxston Moeves, Ben Jackson, or Ethan Hopkins. After last night, I may include Nolan Shafer on that list. Once again, this QB may be the next coming and I'm 100% interested to hear about him. Legitimately, no sarcasm.
