I’m sure @Mustang will have more to say, but Brossart named Jacob Martin as head coach this morning. He has been the DC at Pendleton the past two years and was previously on the Wiggins staff at Brossart. He is a 2017 graduate.

”Bishop Brossart High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacob Martin as the new Head Football Coach.

Coach Martin is a 2017 graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, where he played four years of football for the Mustangs. Over the past two seasons, he has served as Defensive Coordinator for the Pendleton County Wildcats under Coach Jaegger Graham.

Prior to his time at Pendleton County, Coach Martin was a member of the Bishop Brossart coaching staff from 2018 to 2023 under Coach Paul Wiggins. During that time, he held multiple roles, including JV Head Coach, JV Defensive Coordinator, Varsity Defensive and Offensive Line Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

A lifelong resident of California, Kentucky, Coach Martin is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and is the owner of Martin Hardwood Flooring LLC.

Coach Martin met with members of the football team this morning and plans to meet with the members of the current coaching staff later today.

I’m hearing nothing but great things about him. Any time someone calls you a “Home Run Hire,” you know you have done a lot of things right. Congrats!

Outside of him being a great player at Brossart. Reading through his resume. My only question would be. Is he ready for friday nights with the "Head" headset on? Doesn't seem to have alot of experience that I would expect from a school like Brossart to hire. 

No shot at him personally. He is a great young man. Just a little surprised they went with someone with such little high school coordinator experience.

Puzzled a little by this comment. Brossart is a 1A school that has been up and down on the scale of success. It seems to me that hiring a young first time head coach is a good option for "a school like Brossart".

I have no idea what other candidates they were selecting from. Maybe you do, maybe you don't. But Scott just hired a coordinator from Bellevue who is just ten years older than Coach Martin. Boone has a former NCC assistant coach in his mid-thirties. Sure, Coach Martin is a little younger, thus a little less time on the sideline, but he is also an alumnus with a bunch of connections that will help him mold this program to how he wants. Would a 55 year old offensive coordinator from a 3A school (randomly came up with that) been a better hire?

I think Coach Martin makes a ton of sense and I also expect a stout staff around him.

Simply meaning they have had some decent runs in the playoffs and success for a 20 year old program. I thought they might attract a little more seasoned coach. Maybe one with more then 2 years of coordinating experience at Pendleton County (no offense to them). They just aren't a "strong" program.

His age has nothing to do with it. I was just bringing up his little lack of experience. I have no doubt he has connections and may put together a nice staff. Being in charge of a very good playoff program and all that comes with it. Is different then being a coordinator at a very weak program with no expectations.
