This has been my exact thought since seeing this thread. Regardless of what happens, kudos to Coach Herbst, his coaching staff, and the DHS players for putting themselves in a place to even have a conversation like this!

This Friday is a 3-way scrimmage between Dayton, Walton-Verona, and Lynn Camp. Scrimmage against Holy Cross on 8/14.

If you are a fan of small town, small school football, it is hard to beat the Bellevue-Dayton rivalry. The towns border each other, all of the kids know each other, the game has been played 153 times since 1926.

I played in this game. The field was a swamp, incredibly difficult to move the ball. Super fun experience (that isn't sarcasm lol)! 99% sure it was 6-0 final.

For what it is worth, I feel very fortunate to have played for Coach Borchers when he was an assistant at Ludlow. He is a good man that has taken the time to help mentor me at times over the last nearly two decades as an educator.

Happy for Coach Honaker! Good luck at GC!
