Open Job: Gallatin County

Featured Replies

After 19 seasons as head football coach of the Wildcats - a program he started from the ground up back in 2006 - Tim Browning has stepped down as head coach at Gallatin County.

Any candidates for this job? I would assume Cole Mosier could be a favorite for this job. He is a Walton-Verona grad, played football at UK, coached under Jeff Barth and was a finalist for the Walton job last year. This was his first year at Gallatin and was their defensive coordinator.

They might find someone that ends up winning more games than Coach Browning, but they will never find a person that is better than him. Salt of the Earth individual. Have fun and enjoy your free time Coach.

Coach Browning is a great person and great Coach. Really hope they look on their staff and hire Mosier! Kids love him and would be great hire by the school.

Any word on this job?

Any news on this job? Word on the street is they have a guy they are going to name, don't know who it is, or if it is true.

Any names other than Mosier that have come up?

I don't have the name that they have supposedly given the job to. It's been tight lipped in Warsaw. But I do know it wasn't Mosier. Which would have probably been the best hire they could have made.

Interesting, they may have dropped the ball on this one if not hiring Mosier!

I've met Cole, great guy. With that said, I mean this with no disrespect, but he has been passed on for at least a couple of jobs now. What makes him such a sure fire good hire?

He was passed in Walton, because of his lack of experience, or so I heard. From what I have heard, he was passed in Warsaw because they already had the guy they wanted to hire in mind.

What makes him a good hire for the Gallatin job is as follows. He knows football, and has played football at a pretty high level. Which does not always mean you make a good coach. But the outgoing coach recommended Cole for the position, or at least that is what I had heard. Small schools like Gallatin are often used as a stepping stone, which is no good for the student athletes. My understanding is that Cole was planning on staying at Gallatin for the long haul, which could have been good.

I will say this if the guy they hire is the name I have heard, then the guy they have hired is a homerun type of hire. They couldn’t have found a better coach for this job if it is the guy I have heard.

Agreed. There will certainly be a lot of enthusiasm coming in. If it’s who I’m thinking of, he has both OC and DC experience, so I’ll assume he takes on the offensive play calls. I wonder if Mosier would stay in the DC role? I know he left WV when he didn’t get the head coaching job there, but I’m not sure if it would be the same at Gallatin.

Rick Honaker was announced as the new Head Coach today at Gallatin County. I believe this is a great hire for Gallatin, and that they couldn’t have found a better coach for this job. Congrats to coach Honaker.

Happy for Coach Honaker!  Good luck at GC!
