From Camel Pride on social media:

Coach Honaker, a CCHS alumnus, has been selected as the new head football coach at Campbell County High School. Coach Honaker is a native of Wilder, KY, and grew up playing football for the Red Devils and Campbell County High School. He is entering his 23rd year of coaching, bringing experience at both the high school level (Kentucky and Georgia) and the collegiate level (Heidelberg University and Thomas More University). He has coached in state championship games, as well as in collegiate playoffs, having served as a Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator.

His passion for the game and focus on academics, athletics, and citizenship will help build a solid foundation for the Camel football program at all levels. He and his wife, Kristin, will be bringing their family of six children back to the Campbell County community. Coach Honaker, with his “WE over ME” mantra, is extremely excited and honored to be… HOME!

Honaker has been on staff at Ryle under both Bryson Warner and later under Mike Engler, he also coached under Nick Rice at Newport and at Bishop Brossart under Lee Teegarden. He also coached at New Hampstead High School in Georgia, and per the announcement from Campbell County he also had stops at both Heidelberg University and Thomas More University. He spent the last year as head coach at Gallatin County where the Wildcats had a tough 2-8 season.

Congrats to Coach Honaker and the Campbell County community!! Great hire!!

It was a tough season as the record goes for Gallatin but Coach Honaker did a lot of good in helping build excitement within the program and help establish a positive culture and future foundation.  He is going to do great things at Campbell County!

Coach Honaker will bring a lot of Passion to Claryville

Love this! Great hire by Campbell County! He is going to bring a lot of excitement and togetherness to all of Campbell from the youth level all the way to the High School Level. Congrats Coach Honaker!

Really happy for Coach Honaker!  Congratulations!!!

Hopefully he has the buy in from the administration. The potential is there for Campbell Co to be a very good program.

From Coach Bryson Warner:

FANTASTIC HIRE right here for the Campbell County Football Program,  School,  Community,  Players and all involved??‼️ Congratulations Rick Honaker and your entire family on a TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY??? We all know you will put that Program in a Championship Culture and prepare those young men for life through the great game of FOOTBALL ?? Well earned and Go CAMELS???‼️ #HITORSIT 1-0

Coach met with team yesterday. From the boys I talked to, there is a lot of excitement.

I'm happy for Rick and for the kids at Campbell County. He had to make that jump from GC even though I'm sure he hated to leave after just one year. Congrats Coach Honaker!

Agreed. I feel bad for the Gallatin County program as they now have to hire another coach after one year. I am sure it was hard for Coach Honaker to leave but you can't blame him for it. I am sure it is a pay raise, bigger school, better facilities, and a chance to go home! Campbell County made a great choice here. Good luck to the Camels moving forward.
