2 things. NewCath’s O-Line has struggled all season. They pushed a bigger Dayton line all around. Second, NewCath’s been physical on defense all year, but was missing consistenc. The line up changed. That was a very good unit. They did the same on offense with the unbalanced line. The old tried and try split back with the slot in motion that was the bread and butter of the 2012 offense. That was a great wrinkle. The staff did a great job adjusting to talent.

I was completely wrong on this one.

My sons were 4-0 against the Breds, but NewCath always had talented attackers, just not enough depth to match those Highlands teams. Glad it is a bit of a rivalry now.

I’m not sure how long it has been, but NewCath puts up 4 on the Hill to take the District. A nice 4-2 win heading into Regionals. Goals by Hoskins, Boyers, Green and Darnell

I agree here. NewCath's offense is a work in progress. They will struggle getting over the 24 pt mark without help from Special Teams or turnovers.

A sell out crowd at Dayton, means Wayfarer is going to be an extremely tough place to get a seat in before the game.

The most impressive thing about this season is that Beechwood is 3-0 against St. Henry and Notre Dame. I don't know of any 9th Region team in the last 30 years who can say that. Then throw in almost winning a set against Seton and you have an amazing season.

That team is stacked. I called this earlier in the season. NDA is not as deep as they have been. They have two dominate players in Kondik and Roose. Beechwood has O'Brien, Estep and great athletes all over the floor. The fact that the librero is so good as a Freshman bodes well for them beyond this year.

Exactly. They had a chance to win in the 4th. It didn’t happen and they lost. That’s a strong loss, but calling it a moral victory cheapens it. Makes it seem like they had no chance and played the game of their lives. They played very well, just didn’t win. On to next week and one step closer to December.

This game is WAY more important for Dayton. They have, maybe, their best offensive player ever and a really good skill group. If they don’t beat NewCath this year, they may not get another chance. NewCath is 2-3 years away from being a Top 3 1A team again. Right now is about getting better every game and setting a tone going forward. Class sizes are increasing, players want to play for TB.

Prior to the move 1A, the two didn’t play very often I believe. I think from at last 68-91 they didn’t. Then NewCath was moved to AA when they went to 6 classes and they stopped. Nice to be a member of a team the lost to them twice in ‘96 and needed a last second TD to win in ‘97. Ridder was the man and his defensive coaches always had our number.

NewCath's first game against a team close to their size. Rowland is a star in the making. I see he and the Hundemers combining for 5 TDs.

I think they take the district this year. I don't see anything from NewCath that lends me to believe that Dayton beating them is silly talk. 10-0 is a real possibility, which would be such an incredible story. I didn't think I'd ever hear people talk about a Dayton back in the same breath of Skirv, but this kid's legit m as he has clearly shown.
