10/06/2026 KVCA Poll

Featured Replies

I'm going to keep repeating this b/c it deserves to be repeated.
#23 has beaten #10 and #15 (in fairness that was last night). Went 5 sets w/ #4. Lost to #21

#21 beat #10 AND # 19 on the same day.
It's weird.

As observed on The B00kF@ce…*assumed* to be 'legit reporting'

...based upon my limited knowledge, I think it's safe to say Assumption is (“should be”) numero uno - by a wide margin.

There are things I 'like' & am at least a bit perplexed by from each offering.

Overall, based upon what I've seen, I'd say the KVCA Coaches poll is "the best reflection' of the state overall.

"Numbers' weren't 'crunched', but I think a better measure may be generated by taking the average OR mean (hopefully that's the proper statistical measure / reference) of the 3 polls / ratings.

After further review, the volleyball "RPI' must (also) be a bit w0nky.

Notre Dame is certainly one of the top few teams in the state - their exclusion is "joke-worthy'

Yeah the RPI is almost entirely useless for the top teams in KY. For the 200 or so teams who play all of their matches against other KY opponents, it's a very useful metric. But for the teams who play a ton of highly competitive teams from other states, the RPI just doesn't work. But, that's fine. It doesn't really have any adverse effect so it's not a big deal. The KVCA poll however, is really bad. First, less than 10% of coaches vote, and that's a problem. Second, there's no accountability or incentive to do any research before they vote. For example, NDA being ranked ahead of Mercy is just plain dumb. I say that, and I like NDA. I've thought a whole lot about putting together an email blast for voting members with the results of recent key matches so they'd have the information they'd need to vote. Maybe I'll get around to it one day. We have a new (second season) KVCA President and I know she wants what's best for the whole state. I can't imagine she'd be opposed to someone doing that.

Anyway....

I'd have:

  1. Assumption

    BIG GAP

  2. Mercy

  3. Beechwood

  4. Notre Dame Academy

  5. Sacred Heart

  6. St. Henry

7-10 would probably be from the following group. I'd have to do a bit more research, but I'm currently working so I should probably focus on that for a bit.

Bowling Green, North Oldham, E'town, Frederick Douglas, Dunbar, Cov Holy Cross, Bishop Brossart, Whitley Co.,
