I just heard Beechwood won. I am out of town. Is it true?

Looked it up and according to the Cincinnati Inquirer it is true. They won 25-21, 25-18, 16-25, 18-25, 15-9

That is the biggest win in Beechwood volleyball history! They have never beaten NDA before. Congratulations to coach Long and his amazing team. Best of luck as you continue on!

That team is stacked. I called this earlier in the season. NDA is not as deep as they have been. They have two dominate players in Kondik and Roose. Beechwood has O'Brien, Estep and great athletes all over the floor. The fact that the librero is so good as a Freshman bodes well for them beyond this year.

The most impressive thing about this season is that Beechwood is 3-0 against St. Henry and Notre Dame. I don't know of any 9th Region team in the last 30 years who can say that. Then throw in almost winning a set against Seton and you have an amazing season.

The only other NKY team to beat NDA and SH in the same season is Ryle in 2021. They won against both in the last week of the regular season, but didn’t go 3-0 like Beechwood has. NDA knocked them out in the regional semis that year. Beechwood definitely has their greatest team of all time right now. Perfect timing to have that team when NDA is “down”. St Henry is really good, and NDA still has talent all over the place. Aside from the two P4 commits you mentioned, they are deeper than anyone at DS/L. Their defense has been nasty since Tilden has been in the jersey. Grout and Jackson would be libero on most teams in NKY. Breitling and Redlinger are studs. They’re really dangerous when they put it together. You don’t beat Ursuline and CHCA both in 3 (injuries or no injuries) without being really good. Beechwood has an overwhelming advantage at setter. And an even more overwhelming advantage in player leadership. Estep is so freaking good and O’Brien is everything you want from a player. As good as Sturgeon (libero) is right now, she’s only getting better. She just played club for and still works with Jeni Case. If Case isn’t the single best coach in the area, she’s definitely in the conversation. Assuming both NDA and Beechwood win their openers in the district tourney, they’ll have their first rematch next Thursday. NDA has won the 35th every year since the beginning of the current alignment. Certainly looks like we could see that change, and possibly a new 9th Region champ this year.
