Minnesota Police Shooting

Gosh you guys get stopped a lot.

Twice for speeding, once for a stop sign(in a subdivision)and once for careless.

Most of those I was driving a mustang GT so I think I was being profiled as a speeder...:lol2: of all of those stops only got 6 tickets and only paid 3 of them.

Been driving for 45 years. Stopped four times. One speeding ticket.

Easier for me to simply leave on time.

I was thinking the same thing until I started trying to count mine. Probably had 5-6 speeding tickets over the years. Been pulled over maybe 10 times for things and never ticketed. And I had been pulled over twice being profiled as a teen that was up to no good. As an adult, I'm ok with that.

Got pulled over for jumping a railroad crossing as a teen. Didn't get a ticket, he knew my dad. I'd have probably been better off with the ticket.

Has the Chief has a press conference yet detailing the events? Did he say if the victim was pulled over b/c he looked like a person wanted in a robbery?

Correctly profiled as a speeder? :lol2:

Their agency is likely not leading the investigation, right? He's probably not allowed to do that at this point.

Castille had been pulled over 52 times in recent years for minor traffic violations.

Minnesota shooting victim Philando Castile was stopped 52 times by police: Was it racial profiling? (w/video) | Tampa Bay Times

It also says he averaged more than 3 stops a year. If over 3 means 3.5 then "recent years" means almost 15. If he is 32 that means the number of times he's been pulled over pretty much since he started driving.

I've read enough bull crap excuses on the post from certain members to know where they stand on what's happening. Until we recognize that there is a problem, we won't be able to fix the problem, and you are part of the problem. Personal experience means so much more than a bunch of numbers and what is displayed on tv. So many incidents go on and we never hear about them publicly. I am definitely on the side of the law, but I am not on the side of untrained, biased, corrupt law. I rest on this.

"Pulled over because you look like a suspect" means "pulled over because you are black."

Last night and this morning 21 officers from multiple agencies have been injured along I-94 and other parts of Minniapolis and Saint Paul. There was a molitov cocktail thrown at an officer last night, -I-94 was then closed, not sure if it is still closed.

ALL sides need to come together and work this out very quickly! I don't care which side someone is on, everyone needs to see the concerns of the other side and work this out before anyone else gets killed on either side.

Seems to me if he was pulled over 52 times then he knew the proper procedures to adhere to when pulled over. That's a decent amount of experience and interaction with the police when pulled over.

I really want to hear and see the other side of the story.

Question I have been thinking about. Does the black community not trust any law enforcement or only white cops? Do they feel as if they are profiled by only white cops are does that carry over to black cops also? Is a black cop given the benefit of the doubt in a shooting more than a white cop?

Just curious if this is a law enforcement thing or racist white cop thing?

And I'm not trying to fan flames or have a secret agenda, I really was wanting insight as I can't put myself in the the shoes of a black man.

Basically he fit the description, or the officer thought he did anyway. The officer allegedly stopped him to investigate if he was in fact the suspect. Its my understanding that they didn't know exactly who they were looking for, but i did read that his plates on his vehicle may have matched from the robbery investigation as well.

Basically at this point we don't know if he committed the robbery or not?

Has it been reported on this thread that the video was shot at an reverse angle(or whatever the word) and that Diamond was the passenger and the man shot was the driver and that driver looked like the robber of the bank and gun in his lap looked like the weapon involved? This was reported on WLW radio by Mike McConnell or Sloan( I believe), who said they saw video of the bank robbery. Diamond basically lied when she said they were pulled over for broken tail light.

I think you need to read the snopes.com article a little bit closer. The news station said that the audio that was provided could not be verified as being authentic but that the license plate information contained in it did match the license plate information from the Castile's vehicle. The way that I read that it sounds to me that they are using his plate information to verify that it was a recording of the radio transmissions from the stop before the shooting--not that it matched the license plate number of the robbery suspect. Is that not how you read it? I would assume if they knew the plate number of the robbery suspect Castile would already have had a warrant out on him wouldn't he?
