Scott scores 2 in the bottom of the 5th and Crane goes the distance as Scott advances to the 10th Region Finals against Bourbon County. Scott improves to 24-13 on the year while Harrison finishes with a 25-12 record. Congrats to the Eagles on the win.

Breds had the bases loaded and one out in the top of the first inning and came up empty, which might have been a bad omen.

Jim Swinford said they were 11-1 in regional semi-finals played on the hilltop.

Congtatulations to Jeff Trame and the Eagles on beating the Breds at home with regional championship implications!!!

Good luck against the Colonels on Wednesday.

The hidden ball trick to get the final out in the 3rd was pretty big too. Andrew Trame was scuffling a little at the time, and that got him out of that inning. Scott was in control the rest of the way.

Details please! I would love to hear how they pulled that off.

HC had runners on second and third with one out. The batter hits a soft liner near second base that the shortstop Reid Spata catches. He jogs the ball to the mound to give the pitcher the ball, but instead keeps it in his glove. Spata then jogs out toward second and distracted the runner by letting him know there were two outs. The runner looking at Spata doesn't realize that the pitcher isn't on the rubber and takes his lead, and gets tagged out. It's the third time they've pulled it off this year, and the players make the call to put on. It doesn't come from the bench.

Where was the pitcher's pivot foot in relation to the rubber?

Wasn't even close to the rubber. He didn't even attempt to make it look like he was preparing to deliver a pitch. No complaints from HC...you better believe Whitaker would have had something to say had the pitcher actually toed the rubber.

Rule says "approximately 5 feet." If within 5 feet without the ball it's a balk. Your take?

Coach Whitaker spoke on the radio after the game and had no excuses. Just a young player mistake. Harrison going 25-12 most likely overachieved this year. Congrats to the Breds on a very good season and Coach Whitaker for moving into the number 2 spot in all time wins in the state of Kentucky, trailing only PRP's Coach Bill Miller.

Agreed. What was the runner thinking?

Don't know. Part of why it worked was that the Shortstop was talking to him. Whitaker was yelling to the runner to get back to the base. I'm willing to bet 90% of the people at the game had no idea what was going on, or that Spata had the ball.
