Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Chad Fields informed his players on Wednesday that he's stepping down as head coach. 1
Mr. Sixer Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Man, there must be something in the water. This job will draw a lot of interest I’m sure.

He expressed interest in Conner but ultimately wasn't a good fit for him. The Cooper administration and Sully just butt heads on philosophies. I think he really was waiting them out hoping they'd leave before driving him away. Unfortunately for the Cooper kids, I think that's where he is now. 1
Coach34 Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Now that the dust has settled on the Conner boys job. Is this an instance where Sullivan and/or Holthaus to apply for this one?

Play a smart, aggressive, hustle style that just wears opponents down. Always seems to put out deep rosters that challenge every coach’s game planning.

I had a superintendent many years ago tell me that quite often the devil you know is a lot better than the one you don't know. Cooper is arguably one of the three or four best jobs in NKY. I honestly don't think that's the same case at Dixie. Apparently he wasn't a good fit for Conner either.

I've always felt like Cooper is one or the best jobs in Northern Kentucky almost solely on account of the fact that Tim has made it so. And I think a lot of that is also part and partial to the fact that he is there at the helm. However, Coach Sullivan also strikes me as the type who will make success happen wherever he ends up. I personally would count Dixie's basketball team as the most historically under-performing basketball program in Northern Kentucky and potentially one of the most historically under-performing programs in the state. As AD, Derek Bosse seems like he managed to find a promising but relatively un-accomplished coach to step in and make some moves with the football program. I am very interested to see if he makes a similar hire here, or if he manages to lure in Tim. Or I guess he could always make another flop of a hire. Which would be a very Dixie thing to do.

Wow, that was really harsh. But true. 1
The Double Deuce Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Dixie would be wise to make the Sully hire happen! He is amazing, a true culture-builder, and kids love playing for him. I love his saying, "accountability isn't a punishment". I hope Coach Browning does great things at Conner, truly, but he'd have been my 3rd choice of the people that applied for the job if I was hiring. 1

Dixie has one regional once or twice while being one of the biggest schools in the state. And they play in a district with 4 other A schools. Well Lloyd has recently grown some, but still the same point. It should be regional final 4 for them at minimum every single year. That's just the facts.
nees1212 Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 The talk about under-achieving and only winning a couple regionals, when was the last time they were favored to win the region and lost? The only time I can recall is maybe back around the mid 2000's with Doug Jones and the Bramlage brothers where they lost to Ryle. For Dixie being a borderline 5A/6A school, their class of athletes has always been cyclical going back to the 90s. So it's not like there are athletes just walking around the halls not playing basketball. 2 years ago was the last class as they reached the finals where they lost to CovCath. Dixie's biggest issue has been, and always will be CovCath. Dixie's district is Edgewood, Villa Hills, and Park Hills. CovCath's biggest pull is Edgewood, Villa Hills, and Park Hills. The top athletes in their district are going to CovCath as they have the better track record. The only way Dixie can potentially make some headway is to make a home run hire, and Sullivan may be that guy from a basketball standpoint. 1

There are athletes that are walking those halls not playing sports. My best friend was arguably the best quarterback of all time at Dixie, I've witnessed it all firsthand while also playing them as a rival. Dixie is known around for having a certain reputation off the field/court so yes maybe that contributes to pulling people in their district. At the end of the day one of the biggest schools in the area, that some years struggle to win district. Let alone advance in the regional. And to your point about the team a few years ago, that team was somewhat weak compared to most years and they still made it. But when you play in a district with all A schools and then get matched up with a runner up from a different district which is most likely an A school most years your gonna advance. They are for sure underachievers in my book, and sully would be an awesome hire to get them back rolling. He would be slot like Chevy, gonna run his system to a T and you're gonna play hard. Sub 10-11 guys and wear you down. He would do great at Dixie! 1
