  1. There are athletes that are walking those halls not playing sports. My best friend was arguably the best quarterback of all time at Dixie, I've witnessed it all firsthand while also playing them as a rival. Dixie is known around for having a certain reputation off the field/court so yes maybe that contributes to pulling people in their district. At the end of the day one of the biggest schools in the area, that some years struggle to win district. Let alone advance in the regional. And to your point about the team a few years ago, that team was somewhat weak compared to most years and they still made it. But when you play in a district with all A schools and then get matched up with a runner up from a different district which is most likely an A school most years your gonna advance. They are for sure underachievers in my book, and sully would be an awesome hire to get them back rolling. He would be slot like Chevy, gonna run his system to a T and you're gonna play hard. Sub 10-11 guys and wear you down. He would do great at Dixie!
  2. What's harsh about it? Dixie has one regional once or twice while being one of the biggest schools in the state. And they play in a district with 4 other A schools. Well Lloyd has recently grown some, but still the same point. It should be regional final 4 for them at minimum every single year. That's just the facts.
  3. Read you post wrong. Didn't realize you said ground breaking thought I read grand opening!
  4. So one last full season at the old field? Or will they play games at both this year?
  5. This is what I'm starting to hear.
  6. The Ludlow boys program is actually down if you asked me, scheduling has dropped off a ton and aren't really competing in district anymore. But you can probably say that for all the smaller schools. I think Aaron is a great coach and guy, does many of the right things you want a coach to do but like someone mentioned earlier has definitely benefitted from schedules throughout his career.
  7. This might be unpopular but Crossing is gonna name the score in this one. They are way too athletic and big for Lyon. Even at the guard and wing positions, where it will help defending and closing out on some of the Lyon shooters. I don't know how Moreno doesn't have 30 rebounds this game, nobody on Lyon is above 6'4. And to that point Lyon County plays a zone defense without much ball pressure. How easy is it gonna be to dump the ball to Moreno and he just flick it over his shoulder because nobody else can even contest his floater? All he has to do is get to his spot and turn over his shoulder. Just a bad matchup.
  8. Lol some guys on here are just so not clued in. I'm about to post the wing players he got commitments from. Both can shot, both can defend and both can play make. It's not the players or talent Cal is getting or passing up on. It's the lack of ideas, philosophy and adjusting that is doing him in. Is Noah maybe better than Perry? Yes I can be here for that argument. These two kids? Not a chance.
  9. Regret not making it down for this one. 48 to clinch a spot in the Final 4 is a legendary performance.
  10. I think Noah is gonna cause a ton of problems for tonight's winner. Big sized kid that has a ton of skill and athleticism. I don't know who on Newport can match up, will be a tough guard. Same reason I like Trinity and Crossing over them, the wing play is very suspect.
  11. It's so behind though not even worth watching if somebody is posting updates here. They have to get it fixed!!
  12. Newport without Taylen stands no chance IMO. And I'm a 9th region guy that watches them pretty often and want them to win. I think realistically it's 4 teams, Crossing overwhelming favorites. Lyon if they pulled the upset over them in the upper bracket. And then Evangel and Trinity winner will take home the bottom bracket. One of those 4 will win state, as long as Kinney doesn't play. If he does play that just bumps the list to 5.
  13. It wouldn't be good for the state put it that way. If you did a top 20 schools statewide, excluding regional champions that are you first 16. How many regions would only have the regional champ competing?
  14. Don't think anybody has said Kinney is out. Latest I heard they expected him back for the tournament, hobbled I'm sure.
  15. So now that all regions are set shall we get it going?! I'm taking Crossing vs Lyon in the upper half and Trinity vs Newport in the bottom half. Crossing Vs Trinity in the final, which will lead to Great Crossing being crowned champs!!
  16. It's well worth the fee not standing in line for a ticket. And the atmosphere and game we will get is probably worth closer to 20$ dollars anyway.
  17. I do agree with that, a lot of his recruiting is based of projection and what he can become. Has really great length and mobility for his size! But as you said hasn't been able to develop enough skill or flip that switch and dominate.
  18. Lloyd had a great successful season, and play very hard. But let's not act like the 9th wasn't way down this year outside of the big 3. You usually have Highlands, Conner, Dixie, St.Henry, Holy Cross all teams that can compete at a regional level and all were down this year. I just don't know if being in that next group of #4-#7 is holding much weight this year. Region was down compared to most years, and why you seen a result like this.
  19. I think cooper wins the region, they have the best mix in scoring, defense, athleticism and size. Plus I trust Yamil at this point in making all the right decisions over any other PG. I think physicality is what is gonna get Newport, Ryle was bullying them inside and on the glass. Cooper and CC will as well!
  20. Wasn't the only one with that opinion. Go read Evan Dennison who does an awesome job covering the area. He stated " in a game that never felt close" word for word!! CCH was up 7 with a minute left maybe some less, and up to that point the game felt in hand. Blue colonels then proceeded to miss several free throws and turn the ball over. Dixie also had a 5 point possession. So yes the game wasn't that close, maybe the final 30 seconds from CCH own doing.
  21. Wasn't as close as score intends imo. Was a 10 point lead most of game, and around 14 entering 4th. Can definitely take lessons how to close the game. Was a 7 point lead with under a minute left and all kinds of things transpired. Think this was just one of those march endings and the blue colonels escaped.
