How can CCH be so dominant over all of NKY, not only this year, but pretty much every year?  They don't only win, but they destroy every one.

Colonels are really good.  Add that to the fact that the talent in the region is not as good as it has been in the past and you get years like this.

This isn’t hard. And it’s definitely baiting.  Seems simple to me.  Great history.  Great academics. Great administration support.  Great community support.  Great feeder/development programs.  Great coaching.  Those things would make most schools winners.

Cooper has won the region the last two years so I’m not sure your theory is correct.

They are clearly best this year BUT the best teams don’t always win the region.

Dominant and destroy everyone, every year? If they were dominant every year, they would be winning the region every year. They haven't won it or even been in the 9th region finals in the last 3 years. Which means CovCath senior's this year have never even played for a 9th region championship. Now this year though with the talent level being down in the 9th, and CovCath being really good, they are for sure dominating everyone this year. I would be surprised if anyone keeps it to within single digits in the 9th region tournament. 

With that said they are obviously always going to be one of the better 9th region teams every year and for many of the reasons FatNate said above.

Correction, Cooper has not won the region the last two years, just the most recent year.

Correct. Cooper last year, and Newport the two years before that. The 9th Region finals the last three years has been:

2025- Cooper vs Lloyd (Cooper)

2024- Cooper vs Newport (Newport)

2023- Cooper vs Newport (Newport)

Best tradition, for sure, but definitely not dominant. The 9th region is too competitive for any one school to dominant.

One thing that does strike me about the Colonels is how many freshman NKY tournaments they have won. I’m guessing around 40% of the time since the mid ‘60s they’ve brought home the gold. Unfortunately, before the Ruthsatz era, a lot of that talent was squandered at the varsity level.

Not counting this year obviously, but CCH hadn't beaten a Cooper (Tim Sullivan coached) team the last 4 times they had played and lost 5/6 going back to 2023 if I'm not mistaken. I will give CCH credit, they are the most consistent team in NKY but dominant, that's questionable. Dominant would mean they are winning the region every other year at a minimum if not multiple back to back years. Haven't won the region since 2022.

Hummm, I guess everyone is forgetting about the two state championships.
