How can CovCath be so Dominant?

This isn’t hard. And it’s definitely baiting.  Seems simple to me.  Great history.  Great academics. Great administration support.  Great community support.  Great feeder/development programs.  Great coaching.  Those things would make most schools winners.

I heard this Cov Cath freshman class has the best kid from Dixie, best kid from Bally Shannon, best kid from Beechwood. Other starters did come from the feeder schools though I believe.

Is CCH the only school in NKY with these features?  I would certainly hope not.

This changes the subject doesn't it?

I'm not sure what you're asking by you question?  I do feel winning championships falls under being dominant.

Hummm, I guess everyone is forgetting about the two state championships.

Which has to do with what, in regards to your initial post? You claimed that CovCath is pretty much dominant over NKY almost every year. Which they haven't even been to the 9th region finals in the last 3 years, so that is definitely not being dominant and destroying teams. Also the state title you are talking about was 8 years ago. Which even in their two state title years, they have lost to a NKY team and also had a few close games. Which this year they truly are dominate, because there is no other team that has the talent to match up or even keep it close.

Have they had the most overall success in NKY? Absolutely! I don't think anyone would argue that, but that is not how you started out this thread. You said they basically dominate NKY teams and destroy them every year. Which besides for this year, that has not been the case. As the current seniors haven't even been to a 9th region finals yet.

How can CCH be so dominant over all of NKY, not only this year, but pretty much every year?  They don't only win, but they destroy every one.

I seem to remember an incredibly intelligent man calling this in 2015 when he said that they were on the precipice of the greatest run in 9th Region History.  There's a thread on here somewhere.

Over the last 10 years including this year CCH is 282/55, on the other hand Cooper is 190/101.  Pretty dominating to me.

Yeah anybody saying the colonels haven't dominated are just looney. Look at what Scott Ruthsatz was on pace for career wise! Just a hint it was like greatest in KHSAAA history type stuff. I believe with Thielen background at the high division 1 level when it comes to development and being one of CCH own that he is going to only continue to elevate it!

Once again the initial post was CovCath dominates and destroys every NKY team every year. If that was true, there is zero reason why CovCath hasn't even made the 9th region finals the last 3 years. That isn't dominating or destroying NKY teams if you can't even make the finals 3 years in a row against said NKY team. It has also been brought up by another post how CovCath against Cooper up until this year was pretty consistently losing to Cooper over the last few years, and doing so when it mattered most to in the 9th region tournament.

If the post was about CovCath being the best and most consistent team in NKY on a year to year basis, then yes you all would absolutely be correct, and no one would argue that.

I believe Cov Cath is an incredible program in the region, as well as in the state.  I also think most seasons the 9th region is very competitive and the winner always has a chance to make some noise at Rupp.  I looked at the 9th region champs going back to 2005 and below are the results.

Cov Cath 6 (2 state titles)

Holmes 5 (1 state title)

Newport 3

Cooper 2

Dixie 1

Boone 1

NCC 1

Highlands 1 (1 state title)

Ok,I have been disqualified on a technicality.

Guess I wonder about this topic being the so called kiss of death.  Always believed you didn’t talk about a no-hitter until 3rd out in the ninth was recorded, and hated when announcers would talk about a free throw shooters streak right before he steps to the line late in the game.  Never liked players or coaches giving their opponents fodder for upcoming game motivation.  Just wondering if this thread could be inadvertently providing fodder.

I think you're wrong on this one.

I get what you were trying to say, OP, but your original post swayed from your thoughts, I think. CovCath has been "dominant" in the sense that over the last 10-15 years they have been the most consistent year in and year out and have had more success than any other program in the area. The issue, though, is you said they destroy every team every year which simply isn't the case. The previous 3 years prove that as they haven't made it to Rupp Arena in any of those previous 3 seasons.

No one is arguing that CCH has been the best program over the last decade + and has had consistent success that every other team in the area only wishes they could have. This year it is really true because the region is down and CovCath is WAY up! This year they truly are dominating everyone!

Another poster already mentioned the reasons why CovCath has the success they have had, but another reason that they are so good is that they are able to allow any male student to attend that meets their criteria for acceptance to their school from anywhere in the general area. With their strong academics and athletics and being a private school, it isn't hard to see why a lot of parents want their son to go there even if they don't live very close. ?‍♂️
