Game time 6PM

Beechwood comes to Union for the 1st scrimmage of the 2025 season.  Both teams are coming off an impressive 2024 season, with Ryle falling to Trinity in the 6A Championship game and Beechwood beating Owensboro Catholic to win the 2A Championship.

Ryle returns 16 of 22 starters on offense and defense, led by Indiana commit Jacob Savage at RB, Nathan Verax behind center, and Colgate commit Dylan Lee at WR.  Ludlow transfer Dameyn Anness will help supplement Savage at RB as well.  Their OL will again be a strength with Kyle Beatty and Eli Caldwell leading the way.  On defense, Ryle will have Bo Gay and Aysaiah Riddick anchoring the line, with Savage and Kai Workman at LB and Anness back at S.

Beechwood loses 2 star players to graduation in Clay Hayden and Chase Flaherty, but as always, they know how to reload with D1 prospect Emmit Queen getting the ball under center.  Do everything athlete Tyler Fryman is picking up a lot of D1 offers and will be threat anywhere on the field he touches the ball.  RB/LB Brody Aylor, RB/CB Nathan Pabst, WR/DB Caleb Arrasmith, QB/LB Bo Sowder, DT Austin Stephenson, OG Carson Eshelman, WR/DE Chase McDaniel, and TE/LB Aiden Dicke will all play an important role in helping Beechwood win #19.

I know it's only a scrimmage, but I expect to see some top-notch football played anytime these teams take the field.  Let's play some football!

I agree and additionally I expect Ryle to "win" handily.

Beechwood lost James Cusick who is now at the Naval Academy prep school and was the leading receiver and do everything man for Beechwood, as well as Luke Erdman and 4 of the 5 starting lineman last year, it wasn’t just a couple of star players that they graduated.

Beechwood is breaking in 4 new lineman and a new QB, so the advantage will sit with Ryle in this one, but it’s a scrimmage and a great opportunity to get better. Thank God it’s football season!

Beechwood will have 6'2 220 pound Sowder at TE and 6'2 260 pound Stephenson who started on the dline he will play OL this year, 6'4 265 pound Eshelman returns, 6'2 265 pound Ross transferred from Conner and Shaw will also line up on the line.

Seems like if Ryle is returning that much from a state runner up team that they should have a legitimate shot to win it this year. It’s hard to get over the Trinity hump but it seems like they have a outside chance.

Fryman may be sitting out this week for the Ryle scrimmage or at least have limited plays.  He’s been at a MLB scouting event in California the last few days.

I do not care what anyone says, Beechwood will reload and have another great season. It's just what they do.
