Game time 6PM

Beechwood comes to Union for the 1st scrimmage of the 2025 season.  Both teams are coming off an impressive 2024 season, with Ryle falling to Trinity in the 6A Championship game and Beechwood beating Owensboro Catholic to win the 2A Championship.

Ryle returns 16 of 22 starters on offense and defense, led by Indiana commit Jacob Savage at RB, Nathan Verax behind center, and Colgate commit Dylan Lee at WR.  Ludlow transfer Dameyn Anness will help supplement Savage at RB as well.  Their OL will again be a strength with Kyle Beatty and Eli Caldwell leading the way.  On defense, Ryle will have Bo Gay and Aysaiah Riddick anchoring the line, with Savage and Kai Workman at LB and Anness back at S.

Beechwood loses 2 star players to graduation in Clay Hayden and Chase Flaherty, but as always, they know how to reload with D1 prospect Emmit Queen getting the ball under center.  Do everything athlete Tyler Fryman is picking up a lot of D1 offers and will be threat anywhere on the field he touches the ball.  RB/LB Brody Aylor, RB/CB Nathan Pabst, WR/DB Caleb Arrasmith, QB/LB Bo Sowder, DT Austin Stephenson, OG Carson Eshelman, WR/DE Chase McDaniel, and TE/LB Aiden Dicke will all play an important role in helping Beechwood win #19.

I know it's only a scrimmage, but I expect to see some top-notch football played anytime these teams take the field.  Let's play some football!

Emmit Queen is at his 3rd school in 3 years. Has yet to start a varsity game. How is he a D1 prospect?

That seals it. Ryle wins big!

  • I know, quoting myself but after a lot of thought I feel the same way.  In a real game this probably would have been a Ryle running clock or close to one.  Before anyone from Beechwood gets fired up a

  • Because he’s 6’3, 215 with a strong arm and clean mechanics. Colleges care very little about high school production.

It is. We have a slight breeze that's helping. The turf is cooking.

I just finished exercising outside, glad to be back inside and hopefully this stream will be on point.

I like the first throw from Queen and what a beastly looking athlete he is.

Beechwood can't even begin to run the ball so far, almost a men vs. boys vibe.

I would say Ryle dominated the first ten plays with Beechwood on offense.  Now Ryle gets their chance.

Ryle moved the ball to about the Beechwood 22 and kicked a 39 yard FG to go up 3-0.

The Beechwood defense looked a lot better than the Beechwood offense.

Round 2 coming up.

The Ryle kicker is booming it, about 8 yards deep in the end zone.

Ryle is playing some new players on D, not sure how many.

Beechwood with a much better drive on offense this time but Queen threw an INT at around the 10 and Ryle brought back about 50 yards.  Looks like Beechwood gets to finish their ten plays now.  And Savage was not playing defense this series for Ryle and he doesn't look hurt.

Beechwood to punt after what should have been another INT.
