All of this goes back to my initial post. NO ONE KNOWS! Teams have to play each other to determine who is better. Could BG be #1, absolutely. Could X, T, HHS...sure. No one will ever know.

To this. Whose to say if X wins, they wouldn't be the best team in the state at that point? Assuming they worked all the kinks out and figured everything out.

 

Obviously that possibility exists for any of the top teams, would still have to go by on the field results.

I have to say unless Trinity gets beat by a KY school they are #1 in the state. I base this on the scheduals and depth of the two teams. Trinity has 130 man roster with the ability in places to go 3 deep, their schedule includes National Ranked teams Ranked 11th, 339, 29, and next up is ranked 15th in the nation. I dont put alot of faith in the rankings but they are some where in the ball park. BG with two games under there belt, they beat Lexington Cath Ranked 930 and St X ranked 223 nationaly. BG beat Lex Cath 48-21 St X beat Lex Cath 49-28 and BG beat ST X 39-25. I beleive this year there are several teams that could make an agruement that the are #1 including my team SC Cards but I would not try to lay claim to that unless the Cards were playing and equal or stronger schedual. If most teams in Ky tried to play the scheduel as T you would more than likely find you have problems with injury problems.

Actually you are the one who brought it up about last years teams. So now it is only good if it helps your argument but no one else can use your same criteria?

That depends. Are you in the camp which believes when a school brings in a new coach and a new system, the school will be rusty at the beginning of the season but will start firing on all cylinders by mid season whereas programs with established coaches generally are already close to their potential at the beginning of the season and will primarily be doing fine tuning rather than drastic improvement during the season? I don't know if I am willing to buy that but several X alumni I have talked to are willing to give the X coaching staff a pass early in the season because they are still implementing the new system but those same alumni say by mid season, the kinks should be worked out and X shoul be ready to give T a great game. Logical reasoning or wishful thinking? I dunno but if these alumni are correct, they would contend that the X Trinity will face is not the X at this moment. Again this is all theories and such, we could argue all day about their validity.

Before bowling green beat X they were ranked 34 on rivals, which is where trinity claimed their mythical championship.

FWIW, I've seen speculation as to whether BG could beat Ensworth. I believe that they do have a common opponet, so perhaps that might give us something to guage that matchup on after both games have been played.
