Well for some reason he is so concerned with the idea of T playing Cooper. If that is how T feels (although my money is on T hasn't even thought about it) then shouldn't T ask Cooper?

How did this become about Cooper?

Unless you know about Cooper, Boone, Conner and Ryle you will never understand that no matter who they play, under the current restrictions they have in their school district they will never be a pereniel powerhouse.

 

These teams will always depend on the kids growing up in their mandated school districts which means depending on the athletes in their district you will see the teams havin 1-2 or if lucky 3 year stretches of pretty good success. They are public schools with closed enrollment so they can not pick which kids from the county go where. If Cooper has several of the best athletes in grade school happen to be in their district one year then they will get the talent those years and if Ryle does them they will have the success etc.

 

That is just how it goes. Now coaching plays a big part in a teams success also and I feel Cooper is really fortunate in that aspect, but in the end they can only do so much with what they have to chose from.

 

You will never see a Boone Co school go on a 10 year run of great success etc. that is just a fact of the situation they are in.

 

Now with that said, the teams they do play does prepare them for their seasons. Cooper didn't need to play a Highlands last year to get to where they got. They did just fine in preparing and getting to the championship game. If we played HHS last year and got neat by 50, I'm really not sure how that would of prepared is more than playing the tea we did play.

Every teams goal is to win a title. Why shouldn't it be?

I don't know. I have heard that the school district isn't really concerned with sports but that is just hearsay.

 

It would be interesting what would happen if they did change it to open enrollment. Maybe not big enough of a change that would make much different, but then again with the close proximity of the schools and where the kids live there could be a significant enough of change of schools that one school could really improve when it comes to football team. I think coaching would also be a big draw for some kids in that some may be drawn to a particular school because of the football coaching staff over some of the other schools.

 

I think of 2009 for instance, if Ryle would of got the athletes that were designated to go there if Cooper didn't open, they could of very well cruised to the title game and had a really good shot at winning it. They would have been stacked that year with 2 of the best RB's in the state along with some great receivers etc.

 

It would be interesting, if the change was ever made it would be interesting to see how it pans out.

for what it is worth => Yes, I would say BG is NO. 1 or No. 2. Scott Co. is in there somewhere. T NO. 3..... X lets be generous and say No. 10 . . ...

The reason Trinity ended up scheduling the way they do is because everyone here refused to schedule them. It started in Jefferson County and worked its way out. We used to have a couple out of state teams on the schedule and then we'd have the rest in state. 2010 was probably the last year we had more than just our district on our schedule. Since then just to fill out the schedule we have had no choice but to go out of state.

 

To be fair to the head coaches in this state, several have (quietly) mentioned they would be willing to play Trinity but know people up the chain of authority would either not allow it or frown upon it. I give thumbs up to Ballard's coach who worked with Trinity trying to get schedules to line up to play but, the schedules just wouldn't work out.
