Easily the 2005 semifinals between PRP and South Laurel. Most exciting game by far.

It just seemed like something wild was happening every trip down the court. Rupp was insanely loud that morning. The Credential Nazi was even too caught up in the game to check passes.

1967 Sweet Sixteen Championship Game CovCath vs. Earlington.....

Seconds left in the game, CovCath up by one, Earlington takes the ball out from under the CovCath basket, Earlington dribbles down to just a little inside the mid court line shoots and misses but the ball just barley touches the front of the rim and instead of bouncing up and away from anyone, the ball lands into the hands of a surprised Earlington player who is between two CovCath players who are afraid of fouling the player, who then puts it in for the win as the horn sounds.

Just saw a replay of that game and the final couple of seconds is just a little different than what was described above. The ball actually bounced off the backboard...to the surprise of everyone but the Earlington player who grabbed it and put it back in. It didn't look like CovCath was afraid to foul, but that they were surprised the ball landed where it did.

See what you think:

1983 final was the best game I've ever seen at any level. Every possession meant something to both teams. Never seen Rupp like it was that night with everyone in the building on the edge of their seat. A David vs. Goliath match up as true as the Bible itself!

Some other games/teams/players I remember fondly:

1995 - Breckinridge Co.

1988 - Ballard v. Clay Co. (Richie)

1986 - PRP v. Hazard

1984 - Jeff Royce

1982 - North Hardin v. Laurel Co.

1982 - Mason Co. v. Virgie

1981 - Troy McKinley/Manual Forrest/Todd May

1979 - Lafayette Generals (Minniefield, Wilson, Johnson & Co.)

Breckinridge Co. in 1995 was quite impressive.

PRP celebrated while Mr. Basketball caught the long ball on the run to hit the layup at the buzzer...

Nothing emphasizes the joy of victory or the agony of defeat like these classic games.

Actually he missed the lay-up and got the rebound, and P.R.P. raced back down, and Warren Gross tipped the ball out of Spillman's hands into Ty Proffitt's hands.

Ty Proffitt. Went to Notre Dame but transferred, correct?
