CincySportsFan
The latest movie in the Marvel Universe had a monster opening weekend, so kind of surprised we don't already have a thread on it. Anybody else see it yet? I absolutely loved it.
Pura Vida
So excited to see this movie – it was on my bucket list for this weekend. (However my weekend didn’t go exactly as planned lol, so hopefully will be seeing it soon!) I heard it made a bit of money too, go Black Panther! Colonels_Wear_Blue
I don't understand all the buzz about Black Panther being the first major motion picture about about a black superhero. Blade, anyone? They made a whole trilogy?

Blade, anyone? They made a whole trilogy? The PR machine you employ in major motion picture making is just as important - if not more - than the actors hired. Not saying this isn't a really good movie (I just took my four boys to see it actually and can confirm as such), but the spin on this has been beyond outstanding and everywhere. GrantNKY
I don't understand all the buzz about Black Panther being the first major motion picture about about a black superhero. Blade, anyone? They made a whole trilogy? I think it’s definitely a generational thing. You have a very strong actor, you have buy in from the cultural icons, and with the climate we are living in today I think it’s a great way to market the movie. GrantNKY
Chadwick Boseman has played Jackie Robinson in 42 and now Black Panther. Talk about two very strong and impactful roles.

GrantNKY
...and James Brown ...and Thurgood Marshall Forgot about those. The guy is ridiculously talented and courageous to keep taking on such giant roles in movies designed for more than just entertainment.

Original was '98, sequel in '02, another in '04. As of 2015, Marvel was actively in the works of developing a Blade/Underworld crossover film. CincySportsFan
While I have seen one or two of the Blade movies, I never really looked at them as "superhero" movies. Honestly, this is the first that I knew they were actually comics too.
Jackie Ed
I absolutely love love love Blade. Of course the origional came out when I was in 10th grade. Just like my music tastes, my movie tastes haven't evolved past high school. I have never seen a super hero movie at the theater, and this one won't be any different. But I did hear it is very good. MentschTrachtGottLacht
"Black Panther" is a great movie, visually beautiful, and contains several really important messages. I hope that everyone stays for the speech to the UN after the credits -- it really puts a perfect bow on the movie. I was a fan, and normally, as many movies as I see, I loathe a PACKED theater. In this case, it just added to it.
