Just a side note for the freshman game, St. Xavier's supposed top freshman running back "the second coming of Victor Anderson" has transferred to another school. So there will only be 105 players making the trip. Wish I coulld make this one.
-
This St. Xavier Freshman team is loaded with talent. Probably second only to Trinity in 6A and third in the state behind Trinith and Higlands. The Buses (plural) will role into Ft. Thomas despite the intimidating circumstances. I look for the Tigers to play tough with the Bluebirds and possibly escape with a narrow win as they did last year. This freshman game is great for both schools. A fitting introduction to Kentucky High School Football for the players of both programs.

Newman.... Are we of a differing opinion?

Trinity number 1 in 6A as it should be. St. Xavier ranked 2 over Ballard 3 and Ryle 4. Not sure about this. We will find out Friday night. Other number 1s: 5A Highlands 4A Boyle County 3A Louisville Central 2A Ft. Campbell 1A Mayfield http://www.highschoolsports.net/local/louisville/article/Kentucky-AP-HS-football-poll-girls-HS-soccer-coaches-pol/

2009 Statistics Hartline GP=6 Effic=114.41 Cmp-Att-Int=79-133-7 Pct=59.4 Yds=802 TD=6 Lng=55 Avg/G=133.7 Newton GP=6 Effic=119.75 Cmp-Att-Int=52-90-3 Pct=57.8 Yds=539 TD=5 Lng=60 Avg/G=89.8 Those are the stats. Pretty darn close. I went to all the home games and watched most of the away games. I did not see too many receivers down the field to throw the ball to for either quarterback. I think the biggest change needed is play calling. With the stable of running backs UK has, teams will be filling the box. It will be interesting to see if the new OC will open it up down field more this year. I think the conservative play of both players last year came more from play calls than decision making on their part.

Louisville Trinity/Lawrence North, IN Predictions
LUCK replied to WHAT-A-FAN's topic in KY Football (High School)
The Rocks prevail by as many as they want. Nothing but pure offensive prowess. Final score T 56 LN 28. -
Good decision by Coach Phillips. Hartline is a winner against UofL. If he does not produce quickly we have more experience backing him up.

The Tigers will face a tough battle against Ballard one of the Class 6A Distict 5 powers. With some devistating injuries incurred in the Henry Clay scrimmage the Tigers must prove they can contend with the second best 6A team in Class 6A District 5 or possibly even the state for that matter. The Tiger's shortage of depth may show up early this year. The lesser talented Tigers will have to step up and do the best they can against the mighty Bruins. If the Tigers go out and play their hardest and with a prayer and a little luck thrown in we may be able to escape with a victory.

Just another poll that goes off of prior year results when the facts are Trinity had an unusuall. once in a blue moon, down season in 2009. St. Xavier won because the Rocks talent level was down, reportedly lacked the usual senior leadership, relied on freshman, coaches and program had grown complacent, they diverted from the one-day contracts, and didn't slam the **** door. The rocks are not fooling me with all this we are young and do not deserve to be #1.
