  1. Class System - Do away with the class system for all sports, or implement a class system for all sports. If there is going to be a class system make it uniform accross the board. If there are going to be six classes in football, there should be six classes in basketball, baseball, swimming, track, volleyballe, etc. Class System - If you are going to allow teams to play up then teams should be allowed to petition to play down. Ideally if you are going to have classes then teams should play in there respective class. No playing up or down. Practice Limits - Allow for practice anytime other than the designated dead period. Players and coaches are doing this now by disguising themselves as club and/or AAU teams. Transfers - Allow all transfer students to play varsity sports. If a student is allowed to go to a school they should be allowed to play for the school regardless. More to come.
  2. I have mixed feelings about Mr. Tackett becoming the commissioner. I agree he is well qualified and put in the time. He seems to be dedicated and have a strong interest in football. According the the courier-journal he has already applied for the opening. My concern is that this is like hiring a coach in waiting. What are you going to get that is new and refreshing? Or are you going to be playing out of the same old playbook? It just seems to me that the KHSAA is in need of some new dynamics a different way of looking at things. I hope all candiates are looked at for all that they will bring to the table.
  3. Highlands v. St. X If we are talking 2009 St. Xavier would have defeated Highlands if they would have played. Why? Because that is what I believe would have happened and nothing anyone says will change may mind. So please do not waste your time quoting me or responding to me. Save your key strokes. I am stubborn, one sided, blinded, closed minded, a homer, arrogant, egotistical, and you can fill in the rest. If we are talking 2010 and beyond, see above.
  4. What's next for the KHSAA? The status quo until the private vs. public, large vs. small, rural vs. urban, open enrollment vs. closed enrollment, or any other perceived disadvantage bubbles to the top again. The rise and fall of these elements seems to come and go with the different leadership within the KHSAA itself from year to year.
  5. Call St. Xavier's athletic department and ask.
  6. Even if you had one class and one champion someone would say they were the better team. I call that someone a fan.

  8. Does not matter if he is in the endzone. Did the ball cross the plane?
  9. I know that Highlands plays up a division or two. Are there any teams that play down a division? Are there teams that for one circumstance or another should be playing down or up that are not? Should the KHSAA even alow playing in a different division?
  10. I am sure St. Xavier appreciates the compliment and recognition. Trinity is the team of the decade 2000 - 2009 in class 4A and 6A in regard to state championships.
  11. Never? I only met Coach Nichols once at a Manual football fundraiser. He definately has/had a passion for Manual football. I know he was liked by the players and the parents I knew. I had heard some rumblings about differences with the current principal and Coach Nichols. I have seen many Manual games. They just could not win that one game that would put them over the top. Maybe the principle knows a coach who can get them to that next level.
  12. Male has had an advantage for many years and it has been Coach Redman. It would be a disadvantage for Male if they lose him and and advantage for the team that gets him.
  13. Here you go. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20091207/SPORTS05/912070341/Manual+football+coach+Joe+Nichols+won+t+return
  14. St. Xavier has no doubt Trinity will be back. One of the many things that make this rivalry so strong and sustained is that each team keeps coming back. The level of competition exhibited by both year in and year out is remarkable. It is a great rivalry.
  15. Did Boyle have enough of a passing game to defeat Highlands? It appears they would not have a problem picking up yards on the ground against the Bluebirds. I also believe they could slow down the Bluebirds running game but may have trouble against the mix of run and pass thrown against them.
  16. You have two champions, Lexington Christian Academy who had a tremendous year and possibly one of their best teams ever and Highlands who had a tremendous year and possibly one of their best teams ever, they did not face each other during the season. This definately deserves discussion.
  17. This would be a great match up between two champions. Talk about speed on the field. The Falcons and Bluebirds definately would be flying.
  18. This is a thread because we are discussing two state champions who did not get a chance to play each other. This mythical matchup between two champions deserves to be dicussed.
  19. "Without a doubt"........what about Paducah Tighlman? That was the question? They were on a roll at the end of the season. How would Highlands have handled them? Oh and by the way Paducah Tighlman "earned it".
