I won't argue with you about the BBall Coaches attending the games, as I think that is wrong also.

 

You are getting paid to teach and if the coaches leave to attend these games, who pays for the subs to come into work to teach your students and as far as calling in sick? Wow, what kind of an example are you setting for your players/students!

 

My guess is most of regular folks who attend any HS games/matches that are during work time, use vacation time! I know I do!

I think they should be excused to do this. With the time coaches, particularly in football and basketball, put into working with their teams they are underpaid (atleast the coaches that really work hard). Which I don't have a problem with. Coaches coach because they love it, not because of money in most situations IMO. So I think its good to reward the coaches that work so hard all year.

This thread seems mis-titled to me. I don't see anyone saying that any school district is not allowing coaches to attend the state championship games. Instead, coaches can use one of their personal days to do so, right?

What would you say about teams that had a nice playoff run who brought in additional 35-40k of revenue for their athletic department/school?

What school district does not allow it's football coaches attend the games? Some may make them take a personal day but all schools I know allow and even pay for trip and tickets.
