  1. Highlands is in the ninth in Golf and CovCath/Ryle is in the 8th. Needless to say a huge pass for HSS Tim is Ben's Dad
  2. To answer your question old guy after seeing him in person do all of these, no there is nothing he can't do if he wants to. He is playing on one of the best teams in the state and has virtually played no golf in the last two years and shot 37 at Kenwood and then 34 at Ft. Mitchell this past week, Unbelievable !!!!
  3. I think in the long run he plays, but there may be some merit there to everyones comments Currently he's playing on the golf team, a sport he loves. I think the biggest reason he's doing it is to get a break from basketball and baseball which have become year around sports if you let the coach determine your schedule. If you play golf and baseball you get a break over the winter to train, workout and just get a break(mentally and physically) from the pounding of an organized sport on a daily basis.
  4. LaSalle in a big way, same old story with GCL school they have over 1000 boys to pull from and CCH has 500. Last year would have been different but this is an extremely inexperienced CCH squad with losing 18 starters and their best player(Buckley is out for 6 weeks). I hate to say this but this will be a long year unless they move forward quickly over the next month or so LaSalle 42 CCH 7
  5. So Luke has'nt played the last two games ? I guess he must be concentrating on the Golf team he's coming back to on Monday( a little comic relief) !!!!
  6. Golf season in Kentucky was always spring until about 15 years ago. When I played in the 80's tryouts were usually the first week of March and twice we played in the snow after not playing for 4 months. Then once the season started in late March you generally got 1/4 to 1/2 your matches rained out. Then after you graduated and high school was over you went to the state tournament in June ? Spring golf was horrible and will never be back, with dates in August and Sept. you have about 1 rainout every 2 years, the players have been playing all summer and should be in better form and the whole thing wraps up by the 1st week in October.
  7. Thought that was crap, and obviously so did Shane as he was not happy as he headed into the dugout
  8. From my understanding he was receiving high interest from UK, UL, Miami of Ohio amongst a good size group of D1 schools, allong with multiple 1AA schools. From everything I know those schools became disinterested fairly quick when Pete starting talking about not playing college ball, probably not the enthuisiasm D1 or 1AA is looking for.
  9. After taking a long, long, long time to make a decision and turning down a few nice offers in I-AA(Brown, Holy Cross, Dayton) Brandon Brown from Covington Catholic has chosen to continue his football days at Washington University in St. Louis
  10. I root against Highlands at all times except when they play Cincy schools and I want them to represent NKY well No one was happier to see them get beat by 40 or whatever it was to Male or St. X over the last few years, keeps old Dale and all the Ft. Thomas folks a little more on the humble side since they usually don't know what that word means
  11. Not sure how many of you are familiar with X being from all over the state but being from NKY and having season tickets to Xavier I cannot see a 6-5" forward having much effect on X's team. I know everyone in KY thinks the sun rises and sets on UK and everyone else is way below but X and UK are pretty dead even today on talent. That will probably change dramatically in quick order if Gillespie can continue his impressive recruiting. But for now if he can't play at UK he can't play at X. Not sure why miller has offered other than to help fill out practices. Same thing with Austin Hill, have seen him play 20 times in the last 3 or 4 years and there is no way a 6-2" shooting guard with a power forward body can play for X. Especially not with Dante Jackson, and the other two or three guard recruits heading towards X over the next 2 years. I know Austin signed with a JUCO with those hopes but maybe he winds up at a MAC school or another nice smaller DI
  12. Cov Cath will have the player of the year in NKy in Brent Buckley as he will have a Monster year for the Colonels
  13. Not sure who was there for but Paul Daugherty from the Enquirer ran into Sean Miller from Xavier who said he was there to watch a couple kids
  14. Did you notice after the games the hugs and talking back and forth between the CCH guys and the Holmes guys. These kids come from very different worlds but I can tell you from Cov Cath's side that there's no one they respect more and have had more fun playing against. Durran gave big hugs to Bo, BB and TJ who he's played against and with on AAU and summer teams for a long, long time. Class game by the kids and class comments afterwards, Good luck Dawgs end the 9th Region draught !!!!!
  15. One of the best posts I've ever seen on here H.S., you summed up the night, the event, both schools, and their players perfectly. As a parent of one of the CCH guys I'll miss watching them play, whether it was football or basketball it's been allot of fun for the last 4 years and it's very sad to see it end. I asked my step son last night if it had set in that since he was 5 he played football, basketball, baseball or soccer and that it might now be over forever. That sports fair or not were how allot of people see him and were such an important part of his life almost daily. All he could say was that it was "weird" or seemed strange that he would'nt be going to practice tomorrow. I'm sure that it will hit him after a few weeks that 12 years of something that was so big in his life may now be done.
  16. Anez Henerson, I believe he had 27 tonight Just walked in the door, unbelievable high school basketball game. Don't be fooled by the score as it did go into OT. CCH was down all night and had a tremendous 4th quarter to take the lead with under a minute. After Holmes tied it up CCH had the last shot to win. With 17 seconds left it was left up to Bovard who unfortunately got off a horrible off balance shot. Cov Cath was hurt by poor point guard play all night and had numerous posession specificall in the first half where the ball was turned over before ever getting a shot off. Holmes came up huge though neer the end of regulation and OT when they must have made 20 free throws. This was one of their achilles heals all year but they were absolutely clutch tonight when it counted. Not seeing the official stats my guess is they were around 20 for 22 in the 4th and OT Congrats Dawgs, represent the 9th well Congrats to the Colonels as well and to the Seniors Todd, Kurt and Brandon who all played their heart out tonight and to Billy who unfortunately had to watch the season from the bench. You guys gave us a bunch of great memories over the last 3 years it's just a shame it did'nt end at Rupp
  17. Sooner or later does'nt this team have to win a big game ? CCH has dominated the last 3 or 4 years against a team that everyone says is more talented and most seem to pick everytime. I think the number is around 8-2 in CCH's favor the last 10 so why change now. CCH 62 Holmes 59
  18. I agree, just throwing out ideas as to why this team has'nt gotten the job done. They've been there 3 years with an addition here or there to the core of Rice, Hill and Duran and yet they still can't beat a Cov Cath team that virtually the entire team was playing JV last year. I think Henley has done a fabulous job this year during a particularly difficult off the court year and has handled all of it with class. I just wanted some comments from the Holmes faithful on why they can't beat CCH and why they can't win a big game. You did'nt give me an answer either you just got mad about the Henley comment. So why can't they win a big game ?
  19. I knew I heard part of it right and that's the 47, I was doing 4 things at once and thought I heard 50. That makes it even more impressive that the Colonels only had 11 of 66 return !!!! Which game was the real tight one last year ? I guess that was the regular season game down at Holmes ?
  20. Don't want to be the only dissenting vote but if you can beat them 3 times you can beat them 4
  21. When is this team that everybody has been saying for 3 years is the best team in the 9th and is by far the most talented going to beat somebody ? CCH I believe has now won 5 out of 6 and 8 out of 10 against this bunch. The CCH radio guys had a great stat tonight, last years district finals were won by CCH 50 to 47. Of that 50 CCH only returned 11 points from that game(Todd Jacobs and Kurt Bovard) the other 39 were made up by 4 graduated seniors( Tierney, Noll, Young, and Landrum) and injured Billy Schult. On the other hand Holmes had all 47 of last years points on the court tonight and still could'nt win. Sooner or later someone has to ask the question as to whether Henley can get the job done, has the off the court distraction just killed these guys or are they just not as good as everyone thought.
  22. That would be VERY VERY tough that being said as I said on the prediction thread they own these guys over the last 3 or 4 years I believe the record is somewhere around 8-2 over the last 10 against this talented bunch from Holmes
  23. Game over Cov Cath with a huge comeback down 7 in the 4th quarter for the win !!!!!
  24. Jacobs hits 1 of 2 CCH 53 Holmes 50 timout Holmes 2 seconds remaining
  25. Todd Jacobs steals it on the Holmes inbound
