I love Chuck to death but has he applied for every job in the state that has been open this year. Seems his name is everywhere. I thought he was interviewing at Boone? Who knows best of luck to Henderson looks like they have some great coaches to pick from.

I as a parent who has had a son play for the last three head coaches at Grant County feel I can say this with a little bit of credibility behind it. I can not speak for the 2002-2003 team, I was not there but I have heard the history and know for sure that those players are compared to some of the best ever to play for the braves, being compared to the guys that last won the region at Grant. Now to the near present and present. My oldest son played for Coach Kinmon on the 08-09 team and had a tremendous experience, they played very well and I have a ton of respect for coach Kinmon and how he ran his program.That team was pretty fun to watch. He had to go through coach Kinmon leaving and it broke his heart. Now the fortuante thing for me was he played against coach Hicks before coming to live with me when he played in the 16th at Rose Hill with Euton and Jackson. Then he played for coach Utter while he was the intrim coach along with my other son who was a freshman in 2010 season. Coach Utter did a fine job with the situation they put him in, a position that was unfair at best, I believe he did the best he could given the situation and probably hurt him come interview time for a head coach. Then the freshman played for coach Hicks with Aglin and Xavier Thomas, and will tell you with out a shadow of a doubt he loved every minute of it and loved coach Hicks and his style of coaching. Like I said I knew Hicks and had watched him coach in the 16th and knew what we were getting at Grant, an in your face, passionate, no non-sense coach who pushed his players to the best of their abilities. When he came in I had not seen a coach that pushed fundamentals and in your face defense like that in a long time, he had his players playing hard and over the past 3 years has done a lot with not what basketball people would call basketball players, no size inside, etc. I have heard it all but they won this year some how, great JOB coaches and team and played great against the teams they should beat and competed against all the others. I will not compare who the best of all time is but I know a lot of great players have played there since 2005 and all have worked hard and they all deserve the respect for sticking with it and puttting in work everyday. I know Carr is fun to watch and not a day goes by that you wont find the kid in the gym or in the driveway shooting, or working on his game. I think he is a great kid and I wish him the best and hope that Grant comes out and destroys the region next year, they fell a little short but if they had a couple of players no longer at the school I think it would have been great to watch every game which I did not. I will say that Kinmon and Hicks both get on officials and argue calls and BOTH coach the heck out of their players and are both prefessional and were great to work with, I never had a problem with them as a football guy. They were always supportive and I appreciate the relationship I have with them both but more imprtantly than anything they both have helped shape my SONS into the men they are today and for that I am grateful. I wish Coach Hicks the best and would love to see Coach Kinmon back on the sidelines someday. I wish the Braves the best of luck next year and be proud of your season, you did well. I am not asking for debatem just wanted to voice my opinion. Thanks

I did not see he game but must say this was smart by coach Richey. I saw this before in the 90's when Boyd Co. girls tried it against West Carter, it almost worked then as well. It was a higher score than this but it definately keeps the players focused, and if the girls believe in their coach they believe in any gameplan, I commend coach for doing it. If it would have worked no one would question it at all. Congrats to NDA for pulling it out and moving forward.

Just sp we are clear this is high school, not 6 and 7 figure college and pro jobs. And we are dealing with kids not guys on scholarship or getting paid millions for playing the game. It can have an extreme effect on them. My issue is if it is not true, the rumor bugs on BGP dont get hurt but another man and his family and their program do. Just a thougth before we all go flapping at the gums about stuff. JMO

One of the major problems that you have sometimes is that the information is not true!! Someone heard from a friend or someone that someone might be interested in a job or are unhappy about the way things are going at current school and BAM it is the fact to end all facts and people post and comment without having facts or truth behind it. Rumors are not a good thing and by no means should they be spread so freely on a site where a lot of kids read on here. It is great that the site is so popular but sometimes reckless information can be taken as the gospel by some and especially kids who are so impressionable. I definately think it is on the school to keep the names of their applicants confidental and know that some schools out there do a geat job of this. Just my opinion. Good thread BTW Chief

Well it is sad to see this basketball program at Lloyd. The football program will have more wins than the basketball program. Seems to me that things on the round ball side in Erlanger are in a sad state

Davis did not play but about 3 defensive plays at free safety, he did not play OLB.

Great post Coach J, pre-season really means little. I think they have number 1 right but who knows about the rest

Just curious, they are a 5A program why are they playing in the small school division? was this their choice? how would they have stacked up agianst the big schools?

Clyde I personally think that Conner could and should play for a state title this year in 5A if they can stay healthy

I can officially confirm that he was introduced to about 25 players in attendence on Monday afternoon at Grant County. Now the newspaper yesterday in Maysville says other wise. I do not know what is going on but he may have decided to stay at Bracken, or he may not have told the kids at Bracken, I don't know. The thing I know for sure that if any of this is true that is in the paper, then the only people in this that are going to be hurt is the kids at one program or another. I hope for all parties involved that this is resolved quickly, I hate this for the kids at Grant, they need a coach, they need stability, and I hope they get it going right now, they have a great group of kids that deserve the best. I have heard good things about coach Siple and wish him the best wherever he is going to be coaching.

He was on a college visit on Saturday and could not attend. Missed his size and strength but the boys did a great job from what I heard from Coaches that attended.

Congrats to Josh and it is great to see him come back from the injury. Also congrats to his dad Jason, I am sure he is proud

Thanks True Blue, he has worked very hard. I hope for the best this fall. Ryle has some great players and with the team coming together through the summer and after a great spring, should make for a great year.

Ryle did not do anything during spring break but yet won the conference. Sometimes as coaches we want dedication but if it is at the cost of the team I am not sure I would agree. But he made a choice and it may hurt him now and pay off in the long run.

Thoughts and prayers, Kenny was a great coach but an even better person, he will be sorely missed by many. He was always willing to help anyone and did so much for the middlesboro community. Rest in Peace coach.

Man so negative Clyde, Bryson and Ryle are attempting to open up the program to the entire community so they can learn more about what all the program is about which is more than just football. Maybe after Feb. 2nd we will have a better perspective on how the open house went and was it beneficial. I do not think Coach Warner is trying to solve problems by having it, just trying to get all stakeholders in the program involved and understand the direction of the program and his philosophies. I think it is great that he is doing this and it will pay huge dividends in my opinion.

Clyde, this happens in Kentucky but was implemented by the KHSAA, they were ahead of the game. It has been mentioned that KY is going to put something into legislation like this possibly in the next general assembly.

Congrats to Coach Hicks and the Braves on a great win. This team has a lot of grit and alwyas keeps fighting. If their shooters are on and Hurley gets to the rim they can be very dangerous. Especially when you look at their statur compared to Owen's big men. Keep working hard, the 32nd is going to be a fun race this year.

I can say this minus the bashing that is being thrown around, this is a great high school district rival. The next few meetings should be fun to watch and I hope I can make it to these battles. As for Coach Kinmon, Coach Utter and coach Hicks, I say thank you for all that you did for my sons when they played for you. It was truly great to watch them compete night after night. I will say that I have always said maniac that it was totally wrong for the administration to make Kinmon leave mid-season. As for all the other stuff on here I guess all is fair in love and war.
