  1. madman, are you jealous that you couldn't blow the whistle, I dont keep track of how many fouls a team has as I watch but if Gallatin shot 33 then if my math is correct then Grant shot 26, so maybe Gallatin's hack attack worked. Get over your constant hounding of the fouls and physical defense they play, It was close all night and Grant had their chances but fell short. Keep working hard Braves and get ready to beat WV in districts. Hey madman looks like they have started a thread to bash WV and the way their program is being ran. Jump on that post and let the Braves be..
  2. Grant played hard but fell short. Had some foul trouble, but played really hard. Gallatin play very hard and move the ball well. Hopefully the braves did not get too banged up in a very physical game tonight. Senior night Thursday, have to be ready to play, last game before districts and we need to get after it and get one at home.
  3. I agree and disagree. I think you should first go talk to the head coach, if your problem still exist then talk to the AD, then after that you can go talk to the principal.
  4. I do know that Yeast applied at Holmes, as for Arvin, he is a good guy and good coach, I think he will do well at Grant. Best of luck to him and the Braves. I do know he is hard at work getting assistants lined up and the offense ready to install. Got a great group of kids to work with and in the new district he could come out of the gate strong in his first year.
  5. I think you Politician need to express your issues to the coaches, you sound like a disgruntled parent. If your child is not happy then go talk to the coaches and express that, maybe you can come to an understanding, don't get on a public forum behind a screen name and bash the coaches that the administration chose to hire. He is doing what he knows and is pushing the kids to go harder than they have ever gone before. I know no one is perfect and so be it that a coach hollars constantly but if you truly watch there is a lot of coaching that goes on well. Besr of luck to the Braves the rest of the season.
  6. Just for the record Grant won this game fouls or not, a win is a win
  7. madman, maybe being a walton fan you should be complaining about their defense or lack there of, and all of the fouling they did, just saying.
  8. Politician what does your last post mean, I don't understand?
  9. I have a suggestion for madman, their are tons of games every night, don't come and watch Grant. As for kyrebel, those two freshman are good and they scored on our 9th and 10th graders. We only have one senior. Walton only had 3 big scorers but Grant had 4 in double digits and 10 different players to score. Usually Shipp and Hurley and Robbins score more than they did last night. Maybe it was terrible defense on both parts from your guys point of view, but I for one enjoyed the game and am glad Grant got the win, should be a great first round match up in districts on a neutral site.
  10. They scored 77 points on WV who was only allowing 49.7 points per game and Grant is 5th in the region for points not next to last. They are allowing 60.7 points per game and averaging 59.7 a game. Pretty even for a team that does not start a kid over 6 foot tall. I agree they are taught to play aggressive but their style of play fits the bill of a small team. The braves did a good job last night in transition and really frustrated Walton. Looking at your post madman, you watch a lot of practices, what advice would you give to change the hard workign effort these boys put in each day. They are allowed to play physical in practice but are taught to play tough solid defense. They have competed well in a lot of games and are getting better, the reality is there is not a lot of size and talent at Grant and they do the best they can. If they continue to work this team will be good in a year or two, they have one senior and some athletes in the younger grades. You will see these close losses from this year turn into wins. Rome was not built in a day and this team won 10 games last year, 19 the year before with a very talented bunch. The box score had 10 kids scoring, and well distributed, you can put any 10 on the floor and the results will be the same, that is just the way it is.
  11. Good to see the braves hardwork pay off tonight, a lot of minutes to go around tonight, a lot of contributers. Kinmon shot the ball well and finally in the 8th region officials put the braves on the line and they shot very well. The game was physical from start to finish and a lot of credit to the Walton Verona team for a good game. This will be a great 1st round matchup come district play. Once again congrats to coach Hicks and the braves, streaks have to start somewhere, ride this momentum for the rest of the seasonl.
  12. I know Grant may not be the "best" according to most but they have played some quality teams this year. They had LCA beat earlier in the year and lost by 4, a team that just beat Scott County. I think it is great to see Grant play some teams like that, you only get better by playing teams that challange you. Just for the record the JV beat Mason and lead form start to finish. Maybe in a couple of years Grant will give Mason a better game. The Setty kid was the difference, 26 points, he tought to handle size wise for the smaller Braves. GOod luck to both teams the rest of the way.
  13. I will tell you that Josh Stratton would be a great hire. He is a very energetic coach and a great young offensive mind. He knows how to get the most out of his players and is quite ready to take over a program of his own. I hope if he wants the job that the administration gives him a chance. As for Lickert he has landed a great job and will do there what he did at Holmes. Best of luck to the Holmes football program in their search for his replacement.
  14. Let me clear it up right now, Mike Davis has not applied, will not apply and even though I grew up in Boyd County I will not be coming back to eastern Kentucky at this time. I love how rumors fly around on these message boards with no regards to the people they are talking about. I know of several good coaches that are applying but one of them is not me. I would hope this will put this bad rumor to rest before it goes any farther. I wish the kids, administration and the people of Greenup County the best of luck in finding a coach soon. It is very important not to wait around and get someone in place so they can get in and lay their stamp on things this spring. Greenup will be competing in a tough district and region so time is of the great importance in my opinion. Rasputin please check your sources, they are not true, Sportsfan08, I am from the area but I have not applied. Thanks so much, Mike Davis
  15. Collins did not exsist when this was made last year. I would say that Collins would stay and Anderson would go unless you wanted a 5 team district in the 30th
  16. This is a shame if true, but I wonder for a kid who made this reality show, has he never been to a QB camp? I have been to a ton with my own children and QB's and WR's and even at the grade school level these camps are teaching QB's on the board to read, draw up their favorite play versus various coverages. I just find it hard to beleive that a kid of this stature on a very good football team has never been taught to read coverages or alignments. If I was this boys family I would be finding me someone in NKY or Cincy area that could teach this boy something, just to have a base going into college. Best of luck Conner!!!
  17. Not sure about Bourbon but maybe just maybe Rains met with a super from another district besides Bourbon, rumors can destroy a program. Poynter is making things happen in Bourbon and I would see no reason for them letting him go. Now if rains is talking to the Bourbon County super then maybe Poynter should question the time and efforts he is putting in for those people if this is the case. I just think that maybe this could all be wrong and could lead to some problems if everyone does not have their facts straight.
  18. Shame on the parents and Shame on the administration if this is true. Bill Mason is a good man, and to think that the parents have that much say so in the hiring and firing of a coach is right down disgusting. Any good coach in his right mind would not step within 100 miles of that place if this is true. I wish Coach Mason the best of luck and I hope for the kids at Mercer, the administration does what is right and gets them a quality coach in there ASAP to turn the ship around. There is talent at Mercer and the right person with the right backing could be succesful. Best of luck to Mercer County and their search.
  19. Before all the rumors get started and such, I wanted to come on here and let everyone know that I have decided to step down as the head football coach to pursue different opportunities. I appreciate the opportunity to have coached here at Grant for the last six years. It has been a great place to work and the AD is the best I have ever worked for. I am sure the next head coach will find a great group of kids. I wish the Grant County kids nothing but the best, they deserve it. Through the rebuilding process of the past couple of years a lot of young kids have received plenty of playing time. I hold no regrets and would have done it exactly the same if I could do it all over again. My assistant coaches have been great and have worked their tails off. I have developed many friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. I have competed against some great coaches and know that I have grown a lot in the past six years. I want to personally thank all those that have been involved with the program, coaches, players, administrators and the parents that have supported me throughout. We have been fortunate to have signed 13 kids in the past 5 years and will sign a few more this year. I will miss being the head coach but will enjoy right now spending time with my family, and watching my children play basketball and such while I decide on where the good Lord wants me to go next. I hope all on here and in Grant will respect my decision and know that this is what is best for my family and myself right now. Thanks Guru for all that you do for high school sports in Kentucky, Bluegrasspreps is and has been a great tool for all the avid fans of high school sports in this state. For those that care, I will inform you of my next steps. Feel free to PM me or call me( I will PM anyone my number if you PM me first). If anyone is interested in the position I would me more than glad to speak to you about the future here and what you have coming back.
