Read into it what you wish I was commenting to add to Blackshirts great research. Ray did a great job for years but that team was helped by the KHSAA's great trial of inter district play that year. How far would they have gone if they would have played Winston Guy and Lex. Cath that year in the 2nd round not the power house known as Greenup County that year.

I guess when you are playing at Watkins field and not being successful then certain people can get upset. Also when kids at a banquet don't get the awards that daddy thinks they should get, then maybe Stepp is better off not being there. I have it on high regards that the same people bashing Stepp are the ones that ran Ledford out of town and then talk about how great Ledford is now. As long as the boosters and parents run the show no coach that does not do what they want then this cycle will not end. To comment to footballhd, nothing personal on my comment, but if we believed everything about what we read from people who hide behind a call name and bash a man on a internet website, come on. This is high school football, these coaches put in tons of hours for peanuts and if my kid does not get what I think they deserve; then I am going to bash the man taking time from his family to spend time with my child. Maybe we should question the motives of those people.

First of all, I just want to say that until you walk in Coach Stepp's shoes or any other head coaches shoes I suggest you do not judge. For the record he apparently did not have any problem at Berea or Clay, he built those programs to winners. He took the Harrison job on promises that never came through. As for Franklin, it was other factors that were personal for him deciding to resign and it is no one elses business other than him and his family. I wish Coach Stepp the best, he is a great football mind and maybe Franklin will find the right person for them. I here Mike Leach is looking for a job, or maybe they can pay Tony Franklin the big dollars to come in run the team.

Rose Hill minus defectors

I would change the starting five though, it would be Hall, Jackson, Biar, Euton and Davis, with Gregg and Terry and Barber coming off the bench I beleive, that is if Fraley or Euton were the coaches. -
Ron Kinmon gone at Grant County?
giantkiller replied to CincySportsFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Easy, all the coaches at Grant this year are great people and I know that Kinmon will be missed. Sometimes people are great coaches from the stands. THe staff at Grant Co. does a great job with the cards they are dealt. -
Ron Kinmon gone at Grant County?
giantkiller replied to CincySportsFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
All I can say is I appreciate what he has done for my son. It is easy to sit high above and question all that goes on trust me I know. But my son has the up most respect and was sad after hearing the news. Ron made the best decision for his family and that came with him having to give up coaching. I thank Ron for what he has done for Mike and for the friendship we gained in the same profession. I can say this about Joe Utter, he will work very hard and is a good coach. The boys are ready to continue the run that started over the last week. With a great trip to play a good bit of talent in Arizona, the boys need to respond to Coach Utter and get the job done. I will say that I saw some of the best coaching the last two nights of Ron's career and he went out a winner, good luck in the new position and hopefully he can bring a few more things to the district with his sports back ground. -

Grant County/Simon Kenton Predictions 12/11
giantkiller replied to repnky23's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually I would say the battle will come inside. If Grant can keep Davis and Wartman out of foul trouble then Simon might have their hands full. But If the guards are able to pentatrate for Simon like they did last year then it could be a long night for Grant. Both teams will still be working out the early season kinks and should be a good game. Early district game none the less and both teams will be gunning to get a leg up in the standings. Good luck braves -

All I can say is you try to do the best with what you got. Poynter has done that this year. They are physical,go hard and play hard and that is all any coach can ask from his players. They have good young kids and they will have a better record in two years than they have had in the past 5 before Poynter got there. Not saying it is all the coach but you have to have someone take the regins and Bourbon chose Poynter and the people need to get behind him there or take their kid to Paris or another neighboring school. You can't judge anyone on one year, especially when they have won more games then in the past several years and have been competitive in most all their ball games. When a team is use to losing it takes a bit to teach them how to win. Keep up the hard work Coach and the people who want to judge just sit back and enjoy watching KIDS play a great game. -

I will say this if he stays and you will see what he can do, he will make a winner out the young talent. I know he has wo everywhere he has stayed at and it is partly Harrison's fault he left in the first place. I have seen coach and he will prove to you that he can coach if he is not ran out of town by the arm chair quarterbacks that get on this site and other sites and bash coaches who give their time and energy to someone elses kid, Stepp has been in the game a long time and he is an asset to the FC football program if you would get behind him and give him time you will see what I am talking about, but some of you will never get it. I tell you what, run him out of town, I would take him in a heartbeat, maybe Tony Franklin himself will come coach there, or maybe Lou Holtz will come out of retirement and bring you guys back to the greatness you are wanting. But better yet, just leave the guy alone and let him build it back to the way you guys want it, it will happen. -

You always seem to bash Stepp, maybe they should have hired you, you seem to have all the answers. I am not making excuses just stating the facts about a guy who I think is a great coach, who is not a follow the crowd kind of guy. -
