Anderson County 29 South Oldham 19

Featured Replies

Wow, didn't see this one being close. Good job SO.

South scored on a 65 yard fake punt, and on a 70 yard interception return to take a 12-7 lead. Dragons led in the third, 19-15, but Anderson scored two TDs to pull out the home win.

Gotta play 'em on the field, not on paper.

Good Job South! Everything is getting closer to coming together, keep working!

Anderson won, I would have to say they were probably counting chickens before they was hatched, this game being tough will help them in the Post season.

Congrats to the Bearcats on the win...but...

Great teams don't look ahead... I imagine Coach Peach will hammer that into his players' heads this week.

It'll be a doozy between Oldham County and Anderson County this Friday in Buckner.

Colonels also dodged a surprise bullet in a 7-0 OT win at Grant County, although, in Oldham's defense, that may have been one of the two worst fields in the state to play on (the worst perhaps being Ft. Knox', where they discovered a sinkhole three weeks ago and still have new sod on the field!)...Grant had to move their own Homecoming to Bourbon County's field last week...

I want to make it clear to all that the Grant field was no worse than any grass field that has taken on all the rain in the last month. The Anderson County game was much worse, but Anderson was able to move the ball all night in that game. The field may have been just as bad as Oldhams was in the 2nd half of the J-town game. It was soft and slick but the real credit goes to Grant, they play their butts off and came close, but fell short. Congrats to the young braves. Which by the way started a whole lot more freshman and sophomores than Oldham. They were prepared and had a chance but did not get it done, congrats to Oldham, good teams find a way to win. A hats off to both teams they play with pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness and after a great game both teams posed for a picture that will be sent to coach Paul Rains for the help in the campaign. Both teams and coaches showed alot of class tonight.

I want to give a huge hand to the Oldham players that came over to the devastated braves players after the last play and picked them up off the ground and showed them the sportsmanship that makes this sport the greatest sport o Earth. A special shout to Chase Hamby, he is a class act and his effort and sportmanship on that last play was special, he picked up the freshman starting QB for Grant off the ground and told him great job and to hold his head up. Both teams showed a lot of class in a hard fought game.

Don't want to hijack the thread - this is about South and Anderson - but the district better watch out in a couple of years - this is a well-coached Grant County team with some talent. They're just young, and taking youngsters' lumps this year. If they keep their heads about them and keep working...

I also must confess I'm relying on others' opinions of the Grant field as I was not there...but it's also the only field I know of in the state where they actually moved a home game to the visitors' field! That doesn't sound like "any other grass field", Braves1...!
