Grant County 17 Owen County 10
giantkiller replied to FREEAGENT's topic in KY Football (High School)
Grant replaced 10 on offense and 9 on defense from last years team that graduated some really good seniors. The game was a typical first game, several mistakes on both teams. Grant forced 5 turnovers but could not capitialize on them. Owen is much improved and yes they played alot better than 2 weeks ago against Walton. Grant started several freshman ad sophomores and only have 10 seniors and dress 73 kids and only 6 of the seniors start. In the end a win is a win and I am glad it was by the Braves. I will let getalife know that their were programs available for all games and I am sorry you did not get one. If you are a Braves fan there will be more available at the next game. As far as the price, it was 8 dollars for 3 games. The games went all day long and it was publized in the paper and all schools were informed to let their fans know. I Paid 7 dollars last weekend for 2 blowouts. As a fan the games were all competitive and it was a very successful day. Plus the weather all day was amazing. Great job by all teams that participated and hopefully it will be that competitive next year. -

Andrew is a great young coach. He is very energetic and has a lot of knowledge. He was an assistant and head freshman coach at Grant County in 2007. He was part of the staff that gave Grant their first winning season in school's history. He has a huge challange but I think if given time and support he can be successful. He is going to have to take it one day at a time and be patient. Rome was not built in a day, he will work the boys hard I can promise you that.

What, coach Justice, I thought Eric Ratliff was the head coach, what happened? I thought that Justice was the principal. -

I am not here to argue that right or wrong on the rule, but I will say this, it is SAD that our law makers are more worried about someones private agenda then trying to balance the budget and keep school districts from having to cut teachers, lose support personel and others that make our education system the best it can be. In a time where we are faced with such real life situations that are truly effecting the lives of so many around the commonwealth, I find it a shame that this is their focus. Just my opinion and as a tax payer I am embarassed by our officials lack of motivation to do something about the real problems we have in Kentucky

Powell County Coaching Search
giantkiller replied to footballhd's topic in KY Football (High School)
They have a guy teaching there at the middle school who has head caoching expereince and has coached for several years. He was at North Laural and Madison Southern the last couple of years. His name is Warren Mills and I beleive he would do a good job at Powell and woudl stay a long time if allowed to. -
Coach Mike Davis of Grant County

Thank you so much Braves 51 and the rest of you. I appreciate the kind words. But I am the lucky one. I get to get up everyday and go to a job that I love and get so much fulfillment out of. It was a pleasure coaching KJ and all his teammates the last four years. These kids are the greatest and I am so glad to see them continue their career. I am also greatful to all the parents who understand what it means to work towards perfection. Football is so much like life and the lesson I learned playing have helped me in my lifetime. I can only thank my football coach Ed"Teenie" Vanhoose and Tom Scott, Dewey Hawk, Tom Tussey, Rob Chaney. They were very hard on me and I am glad they were. I hope that KJ and the rest of the Braves get as much enjoyment out of playing as I do in coaching them. Thanks and God Bless Coach Mike Davis a.k.a. BRAVES1
