  1. I want to make it clear to all that the Grant field was no worse than any grass field that has taken on all the rain in the last month. The Anderson County game was much worse, but Anderson was able to move the ball all night in that game. The field may have been just as bad as Oldhams was in the 2nd half of the J-town game. It was soft and slick but the real credit goes to Grant, they play their butts off and came close, but fell short. Congrats to the young braves. Which by the way started a whole lot more freshman and sophomores than Oldham. They were prepared and had a chance but did not get it done, congrats to Oldham, good teams find a way to win. A hats off to both teams they play with pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness and after a great game both teams posed for a picture that will be sent to coach Paul Rains for the help in the campaign. Both teams and coaches showed alot of class tonight. I want to give a huge hand to the Oldham players that came over to the devastated braves players after the last play and picked them up off the ground and showed them the sportsmanship that makes this sport the greatest sport o Earth. A special shout to Chase Hamby, he is a class act and his effort and sportmanship on that last play was special, he picked up the freshman starting QB for Grant off the ground and told him great job and to hold his head up. Both teams showed a lot of class in a hard fought game.
  2. Just look at the track record 2-8 his first year at Berea then 8-2 and 3 winning seasons at Berea, 0-10 first year at Clay to 8-2 and if you want to change coaches everytime things don't go right then you will never build anything. Don't forget where FC was before Ammons, not sure about the spelling, came around. He and a run of good athletes made that program and given the time this young talented group of players will build up to be just as good, but you have to give it time.

  7. That is a silly statement, he has a young team and they are competing well. They will be fine in the future under Stepp

  9. Great job and I am glad this guy has the guts to right this article, it happens to often with high school sports. I think people forget that these are kids and they don't get paid a dime to play. Most of the people who are critical could not even tie up their own cleats and lack the integrity to get behind a team in their commuity and would rather criticize to make themselves better. Again Hats off Mr. Ally
  10. I know for a fact that several schools have had cases of swine flu but they are not being reported so that they do not put too much of a scare into the communities. Plus ot many if any doctors offices are testing for H1N1. Grant County has been hit hard all week. Have averaged 18-22 kids out each day do to sickness. They will be without several players this week against South Oldham in a game that could determine the playoffs for the winner of this game. They had to cancel the freshman game this Thursday as well. THe school is averaging about 150 out each day due to sickness. This flu is serious, my mother told me tonight that a friend of hers in Flordia had a son, age 20 die this week due to the swine flu. Hope all kids that are sick a speedy recovery.

  12. They have had a good run, will be tested this week and they will be the 1 seed in the playoffs, but it will be tough to go through that sister district and come out to make it to the semi-state. They turned it around i a short period of time but don't expect state. They will be challaged in the playoffs and their schedule does not set them up to see what they will see out of Boyle or Lex. Cath. Best of luck though

  16. Guess they found a way to win, one man does not make a team.
  17. Just to let you know that the field was done in on Friday night. They have cancelled the youth games this week and have a company coming out this week to work on it to try to get it ready for their next home game on Oct. 16th versus Oldham Co.

  19. Thanks for the compliment on the braves, they work hard, for Grant they have 10 new faces on defense and 9 on defense this year from a good class that graduated last year. They start 3 freshman and several sophomores. Grant has great senior leadership from the 8 seniors they have out of the 70 they dress at home. Bourbon is just like Grant was five years ago when Davis arrived. Grant had never had a winning season until 2 years ago and went back to back winning seasons before going into this year. Bourbon has some good ball players, Barnes is the real deal, he can play. Build a few wins and get more people involved and better days can be ahead for Bourbon. It was a good hard fought contest by both teams. Penalties hurt Bourbon all night and a couple of turnovers in the red zone by Grant hurt them as well. Huge goal line stand by Grant on 4th and goal on the 1 yard line. One thing I leared a long time ago, if I would have listened to the people on BGP I would have been in big trouble. Bourbon will be fine, big game this coming week for them and Grant. Good luck to both teams this coming week.
  20. Braves have to change venues and travel to Bourbon on their homecoming. Go to Paris and get the job done. Great job by the braves. The Barnes kid is tough. Congrats Braves and keep up the hard work, big one next week, be hungry and don't get satisfied with this one.
